Game goes over the borders of my screen when open

So I purchased il2 sturmovik battle of Stalingrad today however every time I open the game the screen goes off the border since I have first downloaded. This has been an issue since in the start up menu I cannot select any of the options , so I cannot change settings or play the game. I have tried multiple things to attempt to fix this issue such as attempting to make the game into windowed mode through steam and changing the resolution when streaming to another device( on this other device the game can be played normally). I have also searched up this problem but it only comes up for 1946 not battle for Stalingrad, and the il2fb solution for 1946 does not work on Stalingrad as I  have not been able to find the file. Is there any solution to this issue.

- I am using a 4k display on hdmi 2.1 + drivers have been fully updated.

@GhuinZoHan Double click on the IL2 launcher and select Settings tab. There you can adjust the screen size before launching the game.

Indeed Gordon200. Another way is editing the launcher startup cfg file and as resolution putting in (UHD) 3840x2160 and so on.

There are quite some games with similar issues. That's why an initial setup step is such a good idea.

Thank you both! I have used simfan2015's  solution as I have the game on steam(It was also due to the game not starting on fullscreen as it was set to 0), though I am sure Gorden200's solution would have worked perfectly fine!

Be adviced, if you go for the "startup.cfg" there are two instances of the res settings you need to alter!

FYI, if you want to tweak more graphics settings outside the game in the future, =RS=Funkie created an IL-2 Config Editor.

Didn't know about the external config editor! Thanks for this information!

Might be interesting for benchmarking and to prepare and/or save multiple preferred (test) settings.

Also have found an issue in Microsoft software itself for windows 10 professional to do that to all games, for some reason the windows system AND the game can be set to your screens correct resolution, but windows likes to add 5% on the horizontal.

Sure on my 32"  its only about 1/5" extended past the sides, doesnt hurt anything but is annoying as it can create a 20 second hangup when i start the game for the first time after turning the machine on

Was just coming on here to ask a similar question. Recently upgraded to a 2K monitor and when I launch IL2 the screen was stretching beyond the 2560x1440. Found the issue was that in windows display settings I had "scale and layout" set to 125% for the monitor; changing it to 100% allowed the Il2 to appear correctly in windowed mode.

Il2 is the only game that has this issue for me, other games I tried seem to ignore the 125% setting.

So choices are run full screen (as stated above), or change the scale and layout settings for the monitor.

Do not know if there is some setting in the config file that will make Il2 ignore the "Scale and layout" setting, but I have not found anything.

There are two instnces of settings for "width=" and "hight=" in the starup.cfg file. They are for windowed and full screen. But they are spread rather far apart in the file so you need to scroll the list.
