Campus Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 I played today with luftwaffe over stalingrad and i had a thought that since moscow I have experienced clear german air superiority. Now from historical point this is very correct. But does air superiority change as war goes on on eastern front? When winter comes and soviets should have started to gain on germans and by 44/45 soviets should have clear air superiority. Does campaign simulate this? If not, when and how should i change configuration in order to have historical numbers and superiority.
PatrickAWlson Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 It attempts to. With unchanged configurations there are always more Soviet planes in the air, but not by a huge margin. As time goes on those planes get better. The starting quality of AI pilots also improves somewhat for the Soviets and, more important, declines significantly for the Germans in 44/45. In the stock PWCG the Luftwaffe is not nearly as beaten as it was historically. If you want more of a difference it is a couple of mouse clicks away in Advanced Configuration. Increase maximum Soviet flights, especially max fighter flights, while decreasing German flights.
Campus Posted December 24, 2021 Author Posted December 24, 2021 Yes i need to find a balance between somewhat historical numbers and what my computer can handle. More than 15 AI planes at the same time really slows down my game as my cpu is burning
PatrickAWlson Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 (edited) The best thing to do is to use Configuration->Advanced Configuration->Mission Limits Add 1 to max fighter flights per side fighter campaign Add 1 to max fighter flights per side ground campaign Add 1 to max allied flights Subtract 1 from max axis flights What you are telling PWCG is that you want one more allied flight, one less Axis flight, and that it is ok for that extra Allied flight to be a fighter flight under any condition. You are not putting any more planes in the air. You are subtracting an Axis flight for what will probably be an Allied fighter flight. Edited December 24, 2021 by PatrickAWlson 1 1
slipper Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 Pat, are there ant instructions on what all the settings do in the advanced configuration at all mate? Some seem pretty obvious but i am not really sure what some of the numerical values relate to, and what can be the max/min values. regards and a very Merry Christmas

For Flying Circus, does Axis = Central Powers and Allies = Entente? Or does Allies = Friendly regardless of what nationality you're flying for?

Axis=Central Allied=Entente I use those as keys and have not (and probably will not) write code to deal with different keys for the same parameter. 1
