GSHWK_Houndstone_Hawk Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 **I've also posted this in the multiplayer thread so apologies if you've already seen it there** Would someone be so kind as to check to see why on earth I cannot get this coop mission to work?! (Download link included). I have 2 pc's, 2 Il-2 accounts, 2 copies of everything and have made coop missions (with media files) before with no hassles. I've done things no different this time around but whatever I do, change, & try, the connecting PC gets the dreaded #10017: filer transfer error. I've checked that all media files etc in the .list file are pointed to the Multiplayer\Cooperative folder & all seems ok. I've tried deleting all content from both the Cooperative & Dogfight folders of the connecting (joining) pc but then I get the #10016: unable to save file to disk message because the media file won't upload (and when I manually insert the media file into the mission folder of the joining pc, I'm then back to the #10017 error. I've also done (and redone) the save files & groups thing in the tools section of the mission editor. Yet the coop missions I made a while back (which include media files also), works as they always have done. So baffling and infuriating as we were destined for a bit of festive 'skip bombing' this weekend but this has got me stuck for 2 days or more. Any help from looking at the mission would be so very welcomed. It's a largish file I'm afraid (around 42mb & the only difference will be that I'm using custom A-20b skins whiuch I didn't include in the download as I'm guessing the game engine will just include generic skins. Mission file is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sg79uei0bi0n9o8/Practice_Mission-A-20B_Havoc.rar?dl=0 Many thanks in advance.
Sketch Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Your issue is you're attempting to make a coop mission, but you have one of the planes (in this case the A20 labeled "Player") set as Player. In a coop mission, all planes must be set to AI. If you want a player to possess that plane, then that plane must also have coop start checked. Here you can see your A20 labeled "Player", has it's AI set to Player. It should be set to an AI level instead. Additionally, you have tactical codes for all of the A20s, but the A20 can't use tactical codes yet. This is probably why your friends can't join your game. I recommend going through and resetting all of the tactical codes on all of your planes. In the same A20 labeled "Player", you have the tactical code HYB. Reset this code and all codes on your planes and that should fix your mission. While I don't have your personal skins, I went through the mission file to see if the skin names were using special characters or had spaces in their names. It looks like your skin naming conventions are fine. Here we can see your A20 labeled "Player", has the skin file name 'a20b_rh_d.dds' which is perfectly fine! I went ahead and fixed those issues I found for you. Here is the corrected mission file (minus the media folder). The A20 skins were reset to default because I don't have your skins: Practice_Mission-A-20B_Havoc.zip
GSHWK_Houndstone_Hawk Posted December 20, 2021 Author Posted December 20, 2021 Hi Sketch. Thank you for your really helpful response and the time you spent with it. Unfortunately this has no affect what so ever. I first went through as per your instructions and changed all tactical codes to 'reset' as well as changing the AI status back once again (an oversight on my part) and also cleared the Cooperative folder before placing the mission back in there but as usual, whenever the joining PC connects, the infuriating #10017: file transfer error message will end the show. I then tried it with your copy that you kindly resent and same results.
Sketch Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Okay, message me on Discord. The mission worked for me, so hopefully we can figure out the issue together.
GSHWK_Houndstone_Hawk Posted December 20, 2021 Author Posted December 20, 2021 Ah. Unfortunately I don't use discord as I've never been into multiplayer. The PC's I speak of are both mine, running off the same router. Like I said, with previous missions I've had absolutely no problems. This mission in particular will always 'play' correctly on the host PC but the joining PC cannot connect at all because of this #10017: file transfer error. I think my worst fears have been realised. I tried leaving out the media folder and then deleted every line from the .list file (leaving only the top 7 lines) and the mission loaded & the second pc was able to join. (Obviously it's a mere skeleton of a mission now). I'm pretty sure it's a problem somewhere with the media files (which is very strange because the mission plays out perfectly well with all the media files working properly when the host PC plays out the mission on it's own.
