Hi,

the most important configuration file for your game is called "startup.cfg" and is located in the data folder of the main game's folder.

You can open this file with the notepad without any problem. If you want to modify things there directly, do it only if you know what

you're doing. Of course, here you will find a lot of chaps willing to help you, including me.

Hi,

Here are some of my suggestions, but you may see it differently, so take it with a grain of salt:

[KEY = graphics]
    3dhud = 0
    adapter = 0
    bloom_enable = 1
    canopy_ref = 0
    desktop_center = 1
    detail_rt_res = 1024
    draw_distance = 1.00000
    far_blocks = 1
    fps_counter = 0
    fps_limit = 0
    full_height = 1080
    full_width = 1920
    fullscreen = 1
    gamma = 0.80000
    grass_distance = 0.00000
    hdr_enable = 1
    land_anisotropy = 16
    land_detail = 2
    land_tex_lods = 7
    max_cache_res = 1
    max_clouds_quality = 2
    mgpu_compatible = 0
    mirrors = 0
    msaa = 1
    multisampling = 2
    or_ca = 0.00000
    or_enable = 0
    post_sharpen = 1
    preset = 3
    prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr = 155
    rescale_target = 1.00000
    shadows_quality = 4
    ssao_enable = 1
    vsync = 0
    win_height = 1080
    win_width = 1920

[END]

My suggestions are marked in green. Modify this manually in your file, save and close it. Then start your game

and see what effect it does - but don't get into the graphic settings of your game to modify something, because

the green settings will be reset to default values. The green values do work in the game, but actually are not seen

in graphic settings (values not recognized).

Cheers

If in the end you don't get the improvement you need there is also this icon mod you can think of as a fall back. Multiple different flavours available to suit almost everyone ranging from pretty much stock to ones where you get a black dot only fade into view at approx a believable distance regardless of allegiance and this dot will eventually fade to red or blue when the bogey gets to short range. I sometimes use this version if I'm tired and don't want to strain my eyes more that already happens at work where I look at a monitor 8+ hrs a day.

I have 27" monitor running 1920x1080 @60Hz and do not have spotting issues - offline and online. And I consider spotting

enemies at more that 5 km a bit unrealistic, although I know there are some individuals advocating a (realistic?) spotting

distance of more than 10 km...

Btw. I'm 57 years old and I have issues with my eyes to - without reading glasses I'm really fu**ed up. That's why I've got

a handful of them with corrections of 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 (that's the one I only use in my cockpit).

P.S.: Did you try the settings I suggested?

Thanks for the reply Therion, yes I have tried these settings and they do improve visuals, to be honest I think its just a lack of practice now.

Bigger is always better in this regard. If you step up to 32” you might want to look at 1440x2560 resolution

Any way to improve ID in VR? On monitor its fine, and spotting range is fine, but I can't ID a plane till I'm right on top of it.
