One of the best tactical fighters of the war. A beast of a fighter!

Well it has a pretty generous FM so... It's kind of cheating ?

Plus those 20mms are just incredible.

It is dangerous.  I blacked out and lawn darted the first time I flew it.

I notice that bombs are locked for the Tempest. What do I have to buy to get the bombs? I can't recall any DLC called "bombs" or similar?

Currently switching between two squads based at Volkert in the rhineland. One squad is doing groundattack apparantly, while the other do the high-flying. imagine using spits for ground-demolition, because you have tempests to cover them! :)

Are talking about career?

They are probably locked to the historical load out that each squadron had at the time.

You should be able to select bombs in AQMB

Keep FM questions and claims in the proper section please.

As Jade_Monkey says, these are available in AQMB.

If they're not available in the campaign it's because Tempests didn't historically carry bombs operationally at the in-game date.

If I remember correctly, Tempests didn't start carrying bombs on operations until the last few weeks of the war - ie more than likely after the end of the in-game BoBP campaign, which I believe ends around the beginning of April 1945.

Tempests did carry out air-ground operations before that time, but these took the form of armed-reconaissance using only 20mm cannons against vehicles.

Speedy plane unleashed - dangerous only for those who not know how to deal with this plane...............

Yes, bombs weren't used by Tempests until the last week of the war in May 1945.

Personally I love it's sound.

Especially as an allied tank skulking around. It's nice knowing I have friends nearby

Tempest and Spitfire XIV. They are the best! Glad we have those in this sim. Love flying them.

The compass is so hard to read, that I've skipped it. It has a directional gyro one can use in stead, but it only changes at intervals. I'm not quite sure, but it seems that you have to set a course and hold it for some seconds or a minute perhaps, before it reveals your new heading. You can't use it in a turn.

I'm guessing that miles and feets means speed and altitude? If soe, they're not between your legs, they are easily read on the dashboard.

Yes!

As for your earlier  question about 'what to buy' - the closets would be Battle of Normandy. The Typhoon handles very differently due to the different wing, but is still fast at lower altitudes - and it has multiple units using bombs or rockets in the campaign.

Typical British ergonomics. All British WW2 cockpits are a mess.

To me it seems that the setup of their cockpits is based on forgot items placed in a hurry at the last moment.

Like: "Oh my goodness, we forgot the damn compass - let's place it here."

I have to agree....that thing is amazing....fast, maneuverable, and wow, it packs a punch.    I love being able to rip off the tail and elevators so easily off enemies.    LOVE IT!

what I do is that I divide feet with 3 and multiply the miles with 1.5 - that'll give you a very usable ballpark

1000 feet = 333m (in reality 304.8)
200 mph = 300 km/h (in reality 321 km/h)

But of course this only works if one is ok with that kind of math.

Well it was just for fun, only problem is the compas. I would also like to have radio beacon just like in late war german planes.

I actually really like it, it's weird but it's almost exactly the same weird in every plane. Plus, the boost gauge is very obvious and very easy to read quickly.

Here's a British cockpit you have probably never seen before, how long does it take you to identify your speed, altitude, boost and rev gauges? It takes me three seconds.

Indeed, yes, the RAF had a standard instrument panel layout you will see in just about every fighter plane of the era - whether it be a Hurricane, Spitfire, Typhoon, or a Defiant. This simplified conversion training and streamlined production significantly, since it meant fewer unique parts to have to procure as new models entered service.

The standard Blind Flying Panel is a godsend at every point, from procurement, logistics, training, and deployment.
