[808_BOB]_RlCK Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Seeing the now worrying upward trend of NFTs in video games, I wholeheartedly want to tell Jason and everyone working on this wonderful simulator to not add them into IL-2. Thank you for the love and work you guys are putting into IL-2 in order to allow us to enjoy flying the planes that we cannot afford to fly IRL. 2 2
40plus Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 I sincerely think you have nothing to worry about with this title. 7

I think he's talking about game money that you have to buy with real money, and only has value in that single game. I don't think you have to worry about that. The reaction to the unlocks of the initial release, clearly demonstrate that a lot of players are strongly against this practices. Il-2 players are generally older than the average gamer, so what works in kiddie games doesn't necessarily work here. Edited December 16, 2021 by Jaws2002 2 1 4

My understanding is that NFT are like bitcoins but for digital art, and some big gaming companies are selling in game NFTs to fleece rubes. So not unlike regular bitcoins 1
Donik Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I've been on the hunt for some good explanations on NFT's for a while. I finally found a couple explanations on Reddit that got me to understand the concept a little better. Quote below modified to better fit the context of our discussion here. Quote An NFT is basically a digital proof of ownership. So, in some blockchain it will be written that [808_BOB]_Dafak-man owns this IL-2 Great Battles pilot character (or whatever the asset is). You can then sell that NFT token to me, and that will be written into the blockchain again. Then I‘m the official owner of that pilot character. There‘s no real link between the asset and the NFT. If the asset is a digital jpg image, you can still make identical copies of it. But if you are the actual owner, you could proof it with your NFT. How does this tie into gaming? It‘s actually rather simple: company hears the word blockchain -> $$$ So far the reception has been exclusively negative. I‘m sure there‘s a use case for NFTs, but gaming is not it. Link to fully original quote above, here. Explanation 2 that I also found rather enlightening. Quote here. Quote Imagine owning the keys to a car that anyone can drive, that has no doors and that has no need for keys in the first place, but you can buy said keys and then brag about owning them. Also, it's considered "illegal" to drive said car without keys but no one cares 2 2 1

Gambit21 Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 You're as likely to see a Pokmon pilot model...relax.
[808_BOB]_RlCK Posted December 16, 2021 Author Posted December 16, 2021 NFTs are basically capitalism 2.0 where the rich are trying to sell a Ponzi scheme just so they become even richer while also subsequently killing the environment because they are based on cryptocurrency. 2

Asgar Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 1. Introduce the Do 335 into GBS 2. Make it a NFT. 3. Sell it for the price of the real a/c to some idiot 4. Profit! XD 1
Guster Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Introduce FFFs (Friendly Fire Fine). A quid per hit including fragments would do, so you've got to be careful with those HE rounds.
Feathered_IV Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 $1300 for a one-off digital ownership of a LeBillfish pilot skin? Sign me up! 1 3
Rjel Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I wish for world peace and that NFTs are never added to the Great Battles series for the good of all mankind. And puppies. 1 1

Motherbrain Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I'm more worried Il2 will become a free to play, PvP grind fest like some other game I won't mention. The amount of people who don't seem to care about single player games anymore is disheartening. 1
Diggun Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Lots of utterly baseless concerns in this thread... 3
[CPT]Crunch Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I have NFT for this. (No F#*&#^g Time) 1

If you look at the work that they are doing, much if it, whether SP or MP related, is focused on not being air quake. Maps, ground objects, career mode, advanced QMB, more mission making capabilities - that is really for the SP, Coop, and MP base that is interested in something that feels like WWII than than air quake. 2 4

Quote Announcing IL2: Battle of Kantō Attention Pilots! Do you have what it takes to become the new IL2 Master? Find out in this exciting new module! - We know we said we didn't have enough references to make Japanese aircraft, but don't worry! This module brings Zero A6M*! - Shoot down aircraft, or catch them by ramming! Caught aircraft are added to your airplane pool. - Earn XP by shooting down enemies and see your aircraft evolve (Yak-1s69 -> Yak-7B -> Yak-9)! - Earn medals by completing the scripted campaigns (Red Star, Ehrenpokal, Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Hero of the SU, Medal of Honor, Victoria Cross, Ritterkreuz)! - After winning all eight medals, battle the Elite Four (Yak-9, P-51, Me-262, Tempest) and fight the final Multiplayer battle against the reigning Champion to gain the title for yourself! *i.e., no A6Ms. Not as in "the A6M Zero". 1 7

marycarneg Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 The guys have been playing online games for a long time but have never heard of NFT. I know that there is NFT in payment systems ... in fact, data transfer technology. Why is NFT needed in video games?
