jdoe33 Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 (edited) Currently we're facing the Situation in multiplayer that server admins want an option to disable Tank and Airfield spawn spotting, they should not show the aquivalent of a LIVE feed 10km radius radar indicating how many enemy planes are in said radius. This isn't a thing in singleplayer, so it should be absolutely optional use. Why is it an issue? Because on a busy and complicated multiplayer server such as Finnish Virtual Pilots it is literally REQUIRED for players who want to fly at full efficency to constantly have the map open and check for enemy locations (and how many) over spawns. Many times i can personally add that my time looking at the map and looking outside the cockpit is almost 50/50 and it neither feels good nor authentic to have that information at all times. You are literally forced to do it because if you don't you're at a disadvantage. You can literally fly blind autopilot circles over a spawn position and just look at the map while waiting for an enemy aircraft to enter that 10km spotting radius and that's not how it should be when flying an aircraft in a simulation environment. The second big issue this brings with it is you can actually identify far away contacts easily as friendly, you see they are over a friendly tank or airfield spawn, you open the map and it is not lit up? Easy, that's a friendly you just identified who is over 8km away even though you can't even tell what airframe you're looking at. You should not be able to have such definitive live information via your map when you're trying to fly as close to a realistic setting as possible. How to solve that "issue" so everyone is happy? I do understand that some servers very well want to have this feature, so I am asking you to give server admins the option to disable the spotting feature of player tank and airfield spawns in the server settings. People who want to keep that spotting function can continue using it, and servers who don't want it can disable it. I assume this shouldn't be big of an issue to introduce to the game and it would be very welcome by the multiplayer community, thank you. Edited December 15, 2021 by jdoe33 5
