Automatic Crew/Vehicle Radio Calls in Multiplayer

A relatively small gripe in the grand scheme of things, but hearing automatic call-outs for allied vehicles is often confusing and definitely not very helpful.

I like to get bent and fly solo, usually supplies, sometimes bombs, but in any case you learn to keep eyes and ears out when doing that in MP, as the only way you're not going to get whacked is to be sneaky.  So you're cruising along, in and out of the (omg awesome, thank you) rain clouds... listening to the hum of 3 beautiful, but woefully inadequate BMWs and wishing that you could retract your landing gear and suddenly someone screams двигатель не успевает!

Being the dumb American that I am, my instinct anytime I hear someone scream something in Russian spontaneously, it's Yuri informing me that we're all about to die.  Except it's NOT Yuri, he's still chilling in the back, waiting for the opportunity to rack up a 0% hit rate against enemy fighters.

No, this exclamation comes from Mikhail, who is a crew member in a T-34 approximately 100km(?) away, and God rest his soul, his tank just ate another 88 APHE round, and is unlikely to make it to the company Christmas party.

While I appreciate the struggle, at some point can we figure out why the entire team hears all of the call outs from otherwise unidentified ground vehicles?  If there was some context as far as which player just got blapped, or a general vicinity (like T-34/76 in grid 1054: GIRL WE ON FIRE!) that would at least provide some value to the random radio calls, but given the choice, I would opt out of hearing internal tank crew comms when I am setting tri-motor speed records at 6000m.

The callouts from other aircraft (I'm wounded, I'm on fire, etc.) would also be helpful/useful if they included some more information than the plane type (as listed in the mission planner); grid, or pilot, or whatever, but in lieu of that it would be aces if we could just opt out of those calls as well.

First of all, very well written and entertaining post that had me chuckling!

Others will probably post here how you can turn down the radio to zero so you don’t need to hear all those unnerving and incomprehensible (to those who are foreign language impaired) call outs.

But I want to hear my gunners inform me about nearby enemy aircraft, in a language I completely understand (English, in my case).

So, in \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\Audio\radio\ I put a minus “-“ character in front of the "ger" and "rus" folders, which means the game can’t find those audio files and won’t play them.

Then, in addition to doing the above, I use JSGME to activate my own version of the mod "All_voices_English_V0-02_close_removed_Ger_Rus_complete", at:

In my version of the above mod I deleted all EXCEPT the below actors so that I could still hear my interactions with my gunners in English when flying German and Russian.

Again, others may share here much easier methods to achieve what I want, but the above is one way to do it
