O_catarM Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 They look amazing only problem is that they won't fit to my Obutto sim chair.G940 pedals are tight fit
SYN_DerHesse70 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Salute all, I received my set of pedals from Milan on monday. The best pedals i have had. Quality and build is brilliant. Strong as hell. Accuracy fantasic. Make a plan and get them. I think that will be my next pedals!!
Rivet Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Like Winger , I was amongst the recipients of the initial batch of pedals. Buying these was one of my better decisions. They are solidly built, look great and work even better. Adjustable in every way and the precision in use is unsurpassed. As far as I'm concerned there is only one option for pedals in the price range and those are ................................. MFG Crosswinds. If you're in the market for pedals, save up the bit of extra cash and go for these. You won't regret it.
ST_Pirato Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I also got a set of the first batch 3 weeks or so ago and I wouldn't want to miss them anymore. Makes flying much smoother and more accurate. No comparsion to the Simpeds I used before, although these served me well for the last few years and still are good Pedals. Well, good but not as excellent as the MFG's are.
ST_ami7b5 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) ^^ Hi Pirato! Nice to see you (also) here On topic: looking really good. If/when my G940 breaks I'll buy these for sure! Edited September 17, 2013 by ami7b5

Crow Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I'm super stoked about these. There hasn't been anything in this price/performance bracket for pedals since Simped stopped manufacturing theirs. It's either crappy Saiteks or ridiculous $2000 commerical grade stuff. I already have the Saiteks and I can't afford the others, but these are exactly what I've been longing for. I can't wait until they are in stock again.

Crow Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Did u pre order? I can't afford to right now. I still need to pre-order BoS next week, perhaps sometime next month I'll be able to.
GFXerDave Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) Hi, Out of curiosity, would these pedals be suitable for MWO (Mechwarrior Online) ? Thanks. Edited October 2, 2013 by GFXerDave
Sokol1 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) GFXerDave, Depend on MWO, if support analog axis to controls, work - like with any other rudder pedal (CH, Saitek...). But if game are no designed to by controlled by axis (joystick, throttle, rudder), like BF, Arma... no advantage in use. Even in this case you can use a 3rd part software, like JoyToKey, XPader... to make pedal axis emulate key press. Sokol1 Edited October 2, 2013 by Sokol1
Matt Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Anybody else constantly checking track-trace.com?
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I will get either these pedals or Slaws BF 109 replica https://www.facebook.com/slaw.device when my G940 pedals brake which they will soon. I have them connected via a USB interfaceso I don't need the logitech software or the rest of the G940 connected
Matt Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 are ur pedals on the way Matt? Yep. Took some time, because Milan was fixing and adding things. But i was OK with waiting. He made some improvements (brake filtering, bootloader for updating the firmware, autocalibration, changed the screw for adjusting main spring etc.) and he kept us updated regularly about that. They will probably arrive tomorrow if i'm lucky.
SYN_Vorlander Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) Great Matt. Milan posted all the updates to me during the week. ps. Those Slaw BF 109 pedals look beautiful. Edited November 8, 2013 by SYN_Vorlander
Matt Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 OK, short review. The build quality is excellent. They feel extremely solid. I don't think anything would break, even when abused. Precision is basically higher than it needs to be. Up to12 bit or 4096 positions on all axes. Perfect width and throw for me (similar to Simpeds). You can adjust it in almost every way. The spring is very strong though. I use it on the lowest possible setting and it still requires quite a bit of force to apply full rudder deflection. But i guess i'll get used to that. Maybe i also have to test the other cam profiles. I do have a few issues with it though. The auto calibration doesn't work for me (Milan is aware of that and is working on a new firmware), so i have to calibrate old style. Because i can't use auto calibration, brake noise filtering is also deactivated and the noise makes it troublesome to bind the controls in flightsims (because the brake axes always get recognized first). Also the base is not as big and/or heavy as i would like it to be. I was always going to hard mount it on a board, but if i wouldn't have planned to do that, i would've run the risk of the base tilting quite easily (probably also because the spring is quite strong). Does anybody have a problem using these on the carpet (unmounted)? But overall, i'm very statisfied with them. It's a completely new feel and they complement the Warthog really well.
SYN_Vorlander Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Mounted mine onto the floor. It's going nowhere.
PeterZvan Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Matt - switch to CAM6. Than it should be more like what you are used to.
Matt Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I think i'm using cam 6 already. Will check. Milan just released a new firmware which should get rid of the auto calibration issue i'm having. He's definately working hard on fixing and improving things. Obviously couldn't check it yet, but if it works, then everything will be perfect. Will need to give it a go with P-51 or A-10 modules too, to test the brakes.
AndyHill Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Ok, after several minutes of testing I am now a complete expert on the subject. 1) I didn't become an instant ace, which is quite disappointing. However, I did become an almost proficient helicopter hoverer instantly, so it must be either my stick, throttle or TrackIR holding me back from becoming the greatest virtual pilot ever. 2) The setup seemed complicated when unpacking the stuff, there are a few pieces and screws with plenty of opportunities to screw things up. However, everything was completely self evident after looking at the thing for a few moments and I only had to take a quick look at the instructions once and that was to confirm that I'm in fact a moron. 3) The measurements are pretty close to Simpeds, so the MFGs were happily a drop-in replacement in a cockpit built for Simpeds. The pedals are slightly lower and a hair wider and of course the base is quite different (but only a cm or two narrower at the front, so fits almost perfectly in my Simped-slot), but all in all a pretty straight forward replacement. 4) The feeling in general (with about a couple of minutes of experience) is precisely as good as I thought. There is a center position, but very little detent. I'm using the cam that is not 4 or 6 and it gives a nice, progressively tightening feel. Even with a fairly low tension setting MFGs are significantly heavier than Simpeds and in this case heavier means better, because with MFGs you can feel the position pretty nicely. Combined with the great resolution they really do affect my ability to hover a Huey. The relatively heavy feel might be more problematic if the pedals are not firmly installed in a pit, so your mileage will vary. 5) A big toe broken in indoor football has a negative effect on total comfort level. 6) I read about the software side of things a few days before installing, forgot everything and accidentally plugged the pedals without giving it much thought. Seems to work so far. The F-16 MFDs seriously didn't like the new pedals for some reason, might have been a problem with the USB hub, though, since after fiddling with ports I got everything working. I have 14 USB devices and seriously hate USB hubs from the bottom of my heart, their only function on this Earth is to cause grief and sorrow. 7) There is a slight snapping sound and small jolt that happens occasionally, possibly the spring changing positions slightly in its holder. Doesn't really matter a bit, but I might be able to remove it with a bit of fiddling. Oddly, this is exactly what my modified Cougar does too. 8) The construction feels solid, craftsmanship is very good and packaging well thought out. 9) Not much more to say at this point with very little actual experience with the device.
Blacksky Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Where is the orderform?? Looks very impressive and seeing my simpeds on their deathbed i need a replacement,
Rivet Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Here you go. You'll find ordering info on the News page. Clicky linky and top right of page. http://mfg.simundza.com/mfgcrosswind.php As a first batch user, I can say with confidence that you will NOT be disappointed. They're awesome.
ImPeRaToR Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 I have a similar problem Matt, when I put my first foot on the pedals they always tip over to one side so I can't put any weight on the pedals before both feet are on it. The wall spacer are also wider than my subwoofer that is supposed to stop them from moving on the floor when using them but I simply went to the shed and got me a piece of wood that is wider than the subwoofer.
BigC208 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 I got the last unit (serial #12) of the first batch in early September. Just updated to the new firmware and the auto calibration. Works great for me, not so good for some others. Millan's working on a new firmware. For me it's just plug and play. Came from the CH Pro predals so it's a huge improvement for me. I used to be all over the place taxiing or taking off in FSX. Now I can precisely put the plane where I want it to be without under or over correcting. I'm using Cam 5. Gives me just enough center feel so I know when the rudder is centered. With DCS A10, CloD, Il2 1946 and RoF the precision is very uselfull when strafing or adjusting fire on flying targets. Almost feels like cheating. Even my wife approves of the rudders. They're dead quiet. I used to annoy her with the noise the CH Pro's made. My sim setup sits in a room we both use a lot at the same time so quiet is a big plus. @ Andy, I made a heavy base for the rudder with some wood I had laying around the garage. A bit oversized but it does the job.http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3844255/Re_Rudder_pedals_prototype_1_p#Post3844255 What's really amazing is the adjustability of this thing. You can adjust the witdth and angle of the pedals, spring tension and the centering cams. There's really nothing there that cannot be easily changed out if it ever wears out (ball bearings, spring). This unit should last a lifetime. And last but not least, the set looks great, almost an HR Giger design.
Matt Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I have a similar problem Matt, when I put my first foot on the pedals they always tip over to one side so I can't put any weight on the pedals before both feet are on it. The wall spacer are also wider than my subwoofer that is supposed to stop them from moving on the floor when using them but I simply went to the shed and got me a piece of wood that is wider than the subwoofer. I hard mounted it now. It's now physically attached to the stick mount aswell. So no issue with that anymore. Now i only have to attach my chair to everything else to keep it (and me) from roling away. I had nothing to put the pedals up against, because my table is not close to the wall or any other object that would stay in place. So it was a bit of a problem. But it's worth it.
SKG51_Joker Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) I recently bought my Crosswind Pedals (serial #14) an tested them with BoS, DCS and 1946. I´d like to advice that I was a very convinced user of simped pedals an thought: "better than german arts of mechanics and machinery will hardly be achived".Now I´m a Milan S disciple ... The pedals are very sturdy, have exellent possibilities to be adjusted to your likes in terms of dimension and angles needed in your simpit. Today nothing can be said about a longterm use and wear of components. If I compare to material and construction desing of my simped pedals I would assume they are at least equally robust.17 bearings and magnetic sensors help in precision and possible wear.price wise I would say they are NOT cheap but worth every Pfennig! Milans approach in terms of used electronics and software and the support provided is NOT comparable to any support by logitech, saitek, microsoft or any other producer of hardware of our genre. I think he does an oustanding job here especially in terms of support given, video tutorials, firmware upgrades and so on. The firmware upgrades are easy to implement through a software device, as easy as it could be!That said, its very easy to capitalize progress made in firmware development of the pedals. conclusion: I´m excited. maybe you already realized?! I´d like to absolutely recommend this fine hardware to all of you who think about buying a new set of pedals! Edited December 19, 2013 by ZG15_Falke
Matt Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Milan fixed the issues with autocalibration and brake axes i had before, so now they work absolute perfectly. I also had some more time to test the different cam profiles and am now using no. 4, which has almost no center detent. Takes some time getting used to that (before i was using Simpds and cam no. 6 which have a very noticable center detent), but i much prefer it that way. It's surprsing how different each cam profile feels. That's just one more way to customize them. He also wrote that he plans to create new cam profiles, based on the feedback he received from other customers. It feels so natural to use them now, i think i could never go back to Simpeds or anything less impressive as these Crosswind pedals. They are the best investment i made regarding hardware in the past years. Overall, i'm looking forward to his next products and hope he'll eventually work on a high quality HOTAS or maybe a high quality throttle quadrant.
LLv34_Flanker Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 S! Seems I have some saving up to do now after my rig was updated. The Warthog extension and these pedals
Blacksky Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I have mine now for several weeks and i´m 100% satisfied. Hands down best piece of simhardware ever bought. I used the simped for several years, the crosswind beat them in every aspect. If you can afford them buy them now. If you cant...switch of the heating, sell some furniture you dont need, let the dog starve..
