Jackfraser24 Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Dear anyone who knows how to help. I had just downloaded the latest update on IL 2 Great Battles onto my computer. Unfortunately for me at least, the entire game is lagging terribly - even the game’s intro is having this problem. Now I don’t know squat about the technical side of computers, so I am asking for someone who knows why I am having this problem, and how to fix it in simple step by step instructions for someone who doesn’t know any technical terms at all. Thanks
RAAF492SQNOz_Steve Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 (edited) Hi JackFraser24, May be a bit difficult to avoid some technical aspects depending on what your issue is. Most IL2 users have reported a performance improvement so what you are reporting is not typical for this update. We would require additional information before making some suggestions. 1. What configuration of PC are you running (CPU and graphics card)? 2. Have you installed any other programs recently? 3. What operating system are using? i.e. Windows 7, 10 or 11? Would recommend: 1. starting the windows Task Manager 2. Select the Processes tab 3. Click on the CPU column to sort the view to show what processes are using the most CPU Paste a screen shot in your response so we can identify if some other program is using CPU resources. AEthelraedUnraed Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Did you already try a full re-install, or if you've got the Steam version, verify the integrity of the game files (see https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB for instructions)? For various reasons, an update might screw things up. By the above actions you ensure that at least all files are what they're supposed to.
jollyjack Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 (edited) As you have probably not made a backup of your old installation, you probably have no access to the original essential game tuning files one needs to re-import. They are overwritten during the update. Alas ! If you still have a backup, these are i think the old ones to re-install: In the DATA folder: startup.cfg, input folder, swf usersaves folder, luascripts if you edited fixcameras. maybe career?
