Yeagermeister Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Good evening, I searched for it and couldnt find anything, I am sorry if this was pointed out before. I tried to be gunner on the IL-2 today and noticed that the mount of the MG is sort of automatically sliding around on the ring. I couldnt find an option to manually move the gun-mount. Now since you can turn the gun around 45° sideways on the mount, it would be convenient if you could slide the mount completely to one side and then fire your gun pointing straight backwards, so you can shoot backwards without hitting the stabilizer. However the automatic system slides it back to the midlle as soon as you try to aim, which is kind of annoying as you directly face your stabilizer this way and it can also mess up your shot. Wouldnt it be nice if we could have manual controls for sliding the mount, so we have more control over it? I am guessing with the "ring-mount" of one of the He-111 turrets it could be even more annoying. I hope I didnt simply overlook this feature, but I couldnt find anything.
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 9, 2014 1CGS Posted July 9, 2014 I'd check your key controls, because they should be working just like the turrets in ROF.
Yeagermeister Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) I couldnt find anything under Weapon Controls though. Just to clarify, this is how it currently is: And I want to manually slide the mount, because the automatic system sometimes slides it in the wrong place, like always in the middle when I am trying to shoot something on my tail which is impossible to do because i would hit my own plane. Unfortunately I have only played Fighters in RoF, so I cannot really compare Edited July 9, 2014 by Juliet_Six

There are commands to take control of the gun and to look down the sights. The former will definitely let you slide the gun left and right. I'd tell you the exact name of those commands, but I'm not at my gaming computer right now. Otherwise, right now I can't think of any reason that it's not working for you.
Sokol1 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 There are commands to take control of the gun and to look down the sights. Accord the above picture the OP is able to control the gun with mouse. What he are asking is for command to move the gun-mount independent of MG... I want to manually slide the mount J.Six, this is not possible, and is probable that the He 111 this worked in the same way(1) of il-2. BTW - Dev's say that this game follow the principle of "less keys is better" for commands, and turret already use various. LCtrl+C = Move to turrets (in sequence if are more than one). LShift+C = Move to another MG position (in Pe-2 navigator cockpit). T = Take control of MG.LShift+T = Aim (in two modes: crosshair or "laser dot").R = "Cock" the MG.LMB = Fire (ammo last ~18 seconds il-2). (1) On il-2:46 you are able to move the He 111 upper turret almost 360 degrees only with mouse, then the absence of gun-mount control should be no problem. In CloD they tried this turret control independent of MG in some planes, but due the delay used to the simulated the mount weight result awkward. Add to this the infamous "gunner fear" (UbiZ00 wish) and the result is a... disaster. Sokol1
