Launch previous version?

Hi folks,

Due to the drop in VR performance I'm experiencing with the latest patch I'm trying to get a pervious version to run.

I know it can be done as I did it some time ago but I can't find the instructions as to how!

When I try to start the game (without the launcher) in both offline and online mode it tells me to update!

How do you get a previous copy to run without updating?

It cannot be done, unless you still have an old version lying around somewhere and don't connect it to the internet.

 

Perhaps you'd rather do some troubleshooting to find out what causes the performance drop? Everything I've read indicates that the update actually increased performance (I haven't played myself yet). If the performance decreases for you, there's likely something going wrong

I've experienced the same VR performance hit, quite significant actually.  I've dropped settings on clouds, turned off shadows, etc. to only see minor improvements.  Prior to the latest update I could chug along pretty good at 80FPS with High clouds, Med Shadows, Complex Mirrors.  I have to assume it's something with the update as I haven't changed anything else.  I hope some VR performance improvements are forth coming.  Regardless the new clouds are amazing and will end up pushing me to a new high end rig so I can enjoy them properly.

Did you already try a complete re-install, or if you're on Steam, verify the integrity of the game files?

Yeah its a previous copy I have saved to an external SSD I'm trying to run.

 

It keeps saying I need to update even with the internet disconnected and hitting 'offline mode'.

 

How do I get it to run?

So if they have borked the latest patch your screwed until they sort it out, even if you have a copy of the previous version to roll back to!!!!!!

Well, I don't know what really happened with your system, but for sure you're not the only VR user here and apparently there are only two of
the VR pilots complaining about the game being porked. To be honest, if the game was actually porked as you stated, there would be the hell

going on here.

 

Maybe, you should narrow down the issue you encounter with the actual version. You should also consult the VR topic on this forum, as you

might find a solution here - who knows, maybe someone with a similar problem already found a solution. Good luck.

I manager to get the time to revisit this this weekend.....

 

In the vain hope of restoring performance I uninstalled il2 and put my backup copy on my system.

I then installed the update again.

Much to my surprise it worked!

Performance has been restored!

 

Back to having some immense fun!

 

May be this feedback can help others that have experienced the same or similar.

Oh that’s a sign of hope! Vr user here, I too am experiencing the fps loss from latest hot fix but I haven’t had time to try a reinstall of the sim.. was kinda bummed out so I moved on to something else  

I’m hoping I can get it fixed as well.. want to finish my spitfire campaign…?

Did a re & re of the game, no change, having to dumb down graphics to get desired fps ?
