Trouble with some control assignments

Hey gang,

Trying to get IL-2 fully set back up after having to do a clean install a few weeks back.

Doing my control assignments seems to be a little difficult for me at this time.

Trying to assign my elevator and rudder trim for the Spit Mk 14.  I assign them to buttons in the elevator and rudder trim switches but they do not seem to work in game for me. Pretty sure I did not have these assigned to an axis previously?

I also try to assign the escape menu to a button and that does not seem to work either.

I think I have the rest assigned ok. Any tips? It would be greatly appreciated!

Never mind I am a dunce, got the elevator and rudder trim worked out - just had to pick the assignments that said axis even though I was assigning buttons.

Not sure why I am having trouble binding the escape though.

I think you can't change the esc. Isn't it the same thing with chat? I tried to swap team and general chat with no success.

Probably right for some reason I was thinking I could assign to a button on my HOTAS.

trim switches

I'm thinking that the Spit doesn't use trim switches but trim axes. But maybe I'm confusing things. I hate to say it, but it's been more than a month since I've flown.

You can assign them to buttons or keys, but you have to use the command 'trim axis' instead of 'trim buttons'. The command 'trim buttons' only works for aircrafts, which had the trim with switches or buttons in real life, not like the Spitfire with wheels.

Yeah I finally figured that out thanks. When I saw it stated axis I mistakenly thought it was requiring a physical axis and I wanted it on buttons.

All good now.
