WHERE IS THE SURFACE EDITOR IN THE 4.701 MISSION EDITOR ???????????

 

I was working and so were others on a lot of map improvements regarding shortcomings especially on the Rheinland maps ... all in vain it seems.

Yep, that's a setback.

 

The new clouds look really great - rather reality than virtual. The empty Rheinland map would desserve some more detailing too imo around the airbases and the targets...

The surface editor has disappeared before, every time reappearing after a short while. Let's hope it's just some checkbox that the Devs forgot to tick when they released the update, and which they will do shortly. I don't think the Devs would remove this functionality on purpose; so far I've only seen good things come out of the surface editor, and I know of no exploits for which you can use surface files.

Fingers crossed, in 4.605 it worked if you switched off reload mission on start or something alike under tools. Not any more.

I'll keep the old ME from the bin file, and see if that works separately.

But my guess is that it will only be useful for surface work, not for Mission editing.

I revamped a few with old ME versions i kept like a Veteranen66 campaign. If you have one you need reviving,  PM me a link, i can see if i can get it going.

Just re-saved all my missions, took about 3 hours, no errors, but i have to check them still.

Hope AE... is right.

 

When reading the description in the game updates thread I stumbled over that line:

 

65. Location of the toolbars are saved correctly, system toolbars and sections are removed;

 

Which worries me a little.

What a waste of time spent since i got a bit familiar with Surface Edit thanks to Aetthelread's manual.

This as I got quite going with certain areas in the Netherlands, spent hours of tweaking  .......   Apparently all for nothing.

 

Hamaha15's Rheinland - Battle of the Bulge - Bastogne area looked great, as well as his Rhine Valley scenery .... guess it will never finish now.

 

PS i bought DCS, and will spend more time there,

and i'll stop buying IL2 pre-releases, for now, so far done out of support. I am really disappointed !!.
