Twilight Zone Black Screen of Death on Loading

This is a very strange. Support tried to help but they don't know so maybe the il2 hive mind might have an idea.

 

Finally built a new system after 8 years. Everything new except the vid card. The card is the weak link in the system as its a GTX 1060 6GB.

Just to give an idea what I am running

Ryzen 9 5900x

64gig ram

gtx 1050 6gb driver 497.09

850 power

4k tv same as used on the old system

 

On the old system il2 ran fine. Had to have much lower graphics but it got decent frame rate and was very playable. when I went to load it on the new one. It went to a black screen. Task manager would show il2 not responding and loose mouse until can close the program.

 

Now it gets stranger.

if I use the native 1c loader i can load in 4096x2160 or 3840 x 2160 in full screen and everything works fine. Though my poor GPU isn't as happy with that. Also 90% of my il2 was bought on steam so if I use the il2 1c version I miss most of my purchases. Any other res but those 2 causes the black screen of oblivion.Dropping to 2k or 1080p boom black screen.

 

Now Steam.

If I load steam then it will load in 1280x768 only any other res and it goes boom black screen of Barbarosa.

 

So its two extremes. 4k or the most primitive hd. Content or little content.

 

These are unrelated but DCS, il2 1946, transport fever 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Division 1 and 2. All load not a problem and play as they should. Its only my beloved il2 Great battles which is failing to load.

 

It feels like something is interfering in the load process and causing it to hang. But I can't think what it could be.

3dhud is 0

 

I've been looking forward to Normandy and FC2 but won't be grabbing them while this is happening unfortunately. If anyone has any ideas please fire away.
