Tipskin Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Hi Guys and thanks for helping, My 1070nvidia has died and I am looking for a new graphic card. The pricing is insane, and I would probably pay more today for the same card I've bought 3 years ago. Anyway- I am looking for a card that can sustain 60FPS throughout the game. I am not playing any other game and do not wish to overkill with expensive performance card. Please if you know by experience on a decent card that can do the job recommend it to me. Cheers!

I would recommend a 3060, 3060 ti, or 3070 for that requirement.
FTC_ChilliBalls Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Or you could see whether the RTX 2060 12 gig edition will be reasonably priced.
HeerRitter Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) I'd recommend looking for a second hand pc that already contains a gpu like a 1070 or 1080 from ur local porn shops. Like you i didn't have the money to waste on a 3080 which is what is was looking at at the time, which now are in the circa £2000 price range, but wanting to come back to pc gaming from console i got creative.. I recently found a custom build with a gtx 1080, 6700k cpu, hyper x 16gb ram, gigabyte Z170x mobo, evga 1000w psu, and even though not my style (i changed it)a decent enough case with all the rgb's someone could want! and all that for £500. Although not a 30 series it was defiantly good enough for the time being until the world comes back to it's senses! My point being in your case you could easily break it down keep the GTX 1080 and sell everything else and actually make money by todays pricing. CEX (in the uk) is selling gtx 1080's for £460 alone I could of sold the EVGA 80+ 1000w psu for a couple of hundred if i wanted. Just a thought, but it's my experience porn shops are one of the few that haven't jumped on the price hiking wagon, and if ur smart and look around, and know how to disassemble and reassemble computers (if not there's 100's of vid's on YouTube) you could replace ur old graphics card for nearly nothing and probably end up with an upgrade! KodiakJac Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 (edited) I've got a 2070 Super, and the lowest I've ever seen is the low 60s fps at very crowded airports with lots of aircraft and ground objects in some of the scripted campaigns, and this is with all graphic options maxed out. Most of the time it runs the game at over 100 fps with maxed out graphics. Edited January 11, 2022 by KodiakJac
Gambit21 Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 With a faster CPU now (5800x) my 1080 holds 60fps @ 4K in IL2 no problem. That wasn’t the case with the the older 1700 processor. Now - I’m in no rush but it will be a 3070 at some point.
Voyager Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Based on some of the recent RDNA2 benchmarks, I'm wondering if it may be worth another look at those cards, especially where the prices are considerably better than nVidia cards. There's some issue that is capping the max frame rate for them in Il-2, but it does look like they able to keep good enough frame rates under higher resolutions and graphics settings.
simfan2015 Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 (edited) RDNA... No tensor cores, no Cuda, no dlss and sometimes inferior software support both in games and business applications. Because of this imho AMD gpus should be considerably faster as well as cheaper for me, personally, to take those cards into consideration. My rtx 3070 OC always simply works and is supported in and by all possible games and applications. Cyberlink and Topaz softwares are prime examples for nvidia support, but also scientific applications that use Cuda or the tensor cores. With a 12700k alderlake cpu, Ddr5, I now run il-2 at 4k everything maxed out at 120 fps. BTW prices for an rtx 3070 are decreasing, as soon as the 16 GB version of the 3070ti is introduced I guess the 3070 will again be sold for far less than 1000 usd!
