Why is my game updating 4.701 so slowly?

Hey everyone! So, I am currently trying to update IL2 Sturmovik Great Battles to version 4.701, but it is taking forever. I am only going at rates of kB/s, unlike my usual Mb/s. Is this because of the servers or what? Thanks for any information that is given!

Hard to say for sure. Does you internet supplier limit your speed at any time. Localized connection problem? If so, the situation may correct itself in time.

 

Have your tried to reset your modem? That may help.

This is not a local modem issue - I have exactly the same problem. I can hit download speeds of up to 10 mB/s but for some reason with the IL-2 updater I am limited to around 180 kB/s. What makes it worse is that I was almost done with updating today when it gave an installation error and I restarted the launcher. It lost the entire update and I have to download 4.22 GB again at very low download speeds.

 

This is the same issue with every update; very limited download speed. Even a torrent system should be much faster than this.

 

Update: I keep getting a "Failed to update" message in the launcher for this specific update, so on top of the slow speed, it fails to complete altogether.

 

Update 2: I ran the launcher as Administrator this time and after downloading the patch it updated correctly.

I think Jason mentioned once that one of their servers had a flaw they found about half a year ago.

 

You could try to connect to another country with a VPN; i use NordVPN, it's a paid version of course,

but there are more VPN providers, some come free with paid Antivirus stuff.
