Big thumbs up from me, the clouds are far superior and a bonus my framerate has improved. ?

I also had to verify the game files , some needed to be repaired in my case.

After any update its usually a good idea to check file integrity (from steam or game launcher depending on version used)

Thanks to Jason and the whole team.  Really appreciate the hard work on our sim.  Looking forward to trying out the new clouds and visual impacts - improvements on aircraft ground impacts from an update or two back made a huge difference in MP play, keeping track of what is going on and improving immersion.  Can't wait to see how these clouds further improve it.  Out of curiosity, is the order of march (OOM) for BoN's remaining features available somewhere?  I know the P-51B is potentially due out before end of month, and also know that Jason won't put a date on anything, but I am curious what comes out after the B-Stang? C-47?  Ju-88C?  AR?  410/Mossie?  Probably posted somewhere, but maybe a link at the end of a Devblog so we can anticipate in future would be cool.

Quick assembly based question on the V1 site - how do you put this thing together and am I missing any pieces?

Its not hard to update these just takes processing time time.

In my case, no files - campaigns, missions, templates ect .. - are usable.

All need to be updated to the new version and this is possible with the ME Tool. I'm just saying that the process is very slow, especially if one has many dozens or hundred of files to save. By way of exampIe I just finished resaving the first folder containing 38 files and the time it took was 45 minutes (using "Resave all files in folder").

Among other things, I don't know if this ME operation can be done in the background, so in order not to risk losing everything, I was forced not to use the PC at the same time for other jobs.

Of course, if, as Icky Atlas says, this is the price we have to pay to have updates that are certainly much appreciated, we must adapt, without any doubt ...

Having said that, I thank the developers for their very valuable work and the great results achieved.

EDITED: Having finally tried a couple of missions with the new version 4.701 and found the new cloud representation system, I can only say one word: SUPERB! Now I can say that the time it takes to save all the files is certainly well spent in the face of these results!

I'm not going to read everyone else's comments before I post, so if I repeat what others have already said, my apologies.

 

From a visual standpoint, this might be the most impressive update we've ever had. I haven't tried each and every cloud formation or density but what I have seen is simply incredible. The formations are varied and very large. Heavy in places with patches of clear sky here and there. It all looks very lifelike. Best of all, I don't see much impact on frame rate. Now I've got to do more exploring. Very glad I've got a four day weekend coming up.

I cannot believe my eyes. How did you do that! So smooth and so perfect. Never seen in VR better clouds. Also sun coming through and in between is so realistic. Thank you. Really!

Clouds are outstanding, one of the best if not the best in any sim I am familiar with.  Also, I am up about 10+ FPS on average.  Usually around 120 in 4k now mid-130s.  So, we have vastly improved visuals and better frame rates!  Isn't this against some unwritten rule of video-game programing?  ?

Genuinely incredible update. Skyrocketing frames increase, photoreal environs across the board and a huge leap in the realism of weather dynamics. How do you guys do it??

These clouds certainely are an epic change, so noticeable. A big step in the right direction.

Ok I tried more settings I am using Extreme for CLouds .. Clouds are too unfocused must be hard for lower settings

.. I like the big formats of them.  There are a great effort to make them and it's great than this was done even If i gone pounded down for the admin for this clouds in an earlier time.  Great work but lets see some fix on teh fuzzyness of clouds .. Will try more but the tiles rain effect is not good but in the right direction 100%  Thank you for the work and Art It's getting very good.

Clouds are puffy masses of water vapor. Sorry, they are fuzzy around the edges in real life and there is no "perfect" cloud shape as they are infinite so there is no wrong answer. We also have 50 cloud maps at the moment and we'll add some more in time. It's far to early to complain about these new clouds for any reason.

Well done Jason and team,

                                                 The clouds are a massive step forward in realism in the simulation and a game changer. Clouds become a main draw for the game visuals.

 

                                                 Just flown through quite a few combinations in cloud options, enjoying the much increased visual options there .  

 

                                                 Bullet effects are also up a grade, explosions yet to experience.

sooo they changed the way the sun works right? at least in VR? Im half afraid im losing my mind, im 99% sure the sun is far more blinding now. It was the first thing I could tell as soon as I spawned in a quick mission haha. seems like an eye exposed to the sun gets that whole screen turned a little whiter, like I can tell even when trying not to look through the lenses! probably a more realistic implementation for sure, gonna take some getting used to tho :)

I am not seeing the new clouds. Except high level. Skies clear no matter settings. anybody else?

I guess verify files right?

Might be a low pressure system moving in? Or is it high pressure?

 

Have you adjusted the settings in the mission setup? Assuming you're using the QMB?

Not often an update increases performance but this one was marvellous. Clouds are a massive upgrade in both looks and gpu-load. I suspect there were orher optimizations also?
