52. The overestimated combat survivability of guns, guidance mechanisms, electrical systems and radio stations has been reduced on all tanks, both detailed and simple. Tank guns can be disabled by an AP round hit of a similar caliber or multiple hits of .50 and larger caliber AP bullets;

It will hurt ?

  • Reduced number of "compromise" solutions such as "object outlines" "mountain intersection aliasing", etc.;
  • Increased performance of the graphics subsystem.

These two sentences alone show the incredible work that is being done. The game engine keeps developing without us, the players, feeling any discomfort. The game doesn't have any more difficulties to run properly.

It's still incredible.

Such a great update! This team is amazing.

I wonder if/when the scripted campaigns will be updated to appropriately use the new clouds too. I'm sure Pat Wilson has his work cut out for him as well.

Thank you Han and the team for all your hard work ?

That´s a "Yes!" ?

"Aircraft within the clouds still visible?" That´s a "Yes!" too I´m afraid... ?

This is a technology limitation and only visible for a limited distance. Not much more we can do about it.

No the Normandy map is not released yet. The objects always finish first. It's normal.

I think it's because the servers are not updated yet. As they are on the old version and you on the new one, you don't see them anymore.

Here we go again!

A few minutes ago an update of the IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles simulator arrived and, after 30 minutes of downloading, the new version (release 4.701). Et voila, I launch the program again and try to load the mission I'm working on, and then the campaign I'm flying, but ... nothing, again the usual problem. Whenever there is an update, all files are not uploadable !!!

Maybe there will be some good news in the new version ... but I can't see them!

The solution I adopted is the following: from ME >>> Tool >>> Resave All Missions in folder. Thus begins a long process, at the end of which, the "old" files are again available for the new version.

The problem is that I have 1086 files under the Campaigns folder and 4075 (including missions, templates, groups etc.) under the heading Missions.

The question is: do I have to start the Resave, waiting a few days, to recover all the old files which I need to use, or is there a more immediate system ...

I think you all have my problem right now.

How are you behaving now?

Thank you...

DFW.   So needed.

People really underestimate the value of two-seaters!! We could do with a couple of very early ones (even if just AI) for FCIV (assuming it happens) - to give the DH.2 and E.III something they can catch.

Anyway, Rise of Flight was one of the first WWI sims (if not the first) to make a two-seater flyable... and it was... the DFW C.V !! So I'm quite excited to have it back. It is also quite different from the other two-seaters... handles differently. It'll be lovely to see the update (and take it up into some clouds)!

If you read the text accompanying the release it is clearly stated (Jason even apologized for that) that we have to resave all the mission that have been made with the editor.

This is the normal price to pay to have the sim improve and evolve over time.

We had many times this process in the past and it works fine. Never had a major problem with it.

You have the resave function in the editor.

Indeed cloud system being different we have to review the atmospheric effects in the missions too.

Probably the time server operators need to update their machines and re-save their maps.

Many thanks for this update!

Does this by any chance also applies to AI gunners?

Thank you so much guys! I must be honest and say part of my excitement stems from knowing the next update is the P-51B and complex fuel systems/drop tanks for the 109. But I know this update today is the one I will appreciate every time I fly.

P-51 B/C, yes. There was, however, a “hopefully” caveat on the complex fuel systems mention. So, keep that in the hopefully/probably column for now.

It only impacts any custom missions.

All the .msnbin (binary compiled mission files) need to be rebuilt.
(Should not impact templates and groups  or data in campaign folder)
Its not hard to update these just takes processing time time.

The alternative is we never update the game.
