Rameses Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Hi, hoping somebody can provide an answer to the issue with the truncated gunsight view using triple monitors. The attached screenshot is showing the view zoomed out to the fullest running at 7680 X 1440. Had a search around the forum and appreciate this was raised back in 2018 by SeaSerpent but no further answers to this (if I've missed a link then please point me in the right direction). I'd hoped this might have been something similar to the bombsight view which PtK 'fixed' under the [MOD] Hangar View Fov/Triple Screen Mods thread which works a treat <nod to PtK>. I've looked through the GTP files in a similar fashion and nothing I can see looks like a similar fix can be applied. If anyone knows a fix or the Devs can very kindly pick this up and resolve it would be highly appreciated. In itself its a fantastic sim / game and hats off the team developing it, would love to be able to get into the TC part with the triple setup I have.
SCG_Neun Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Would love to see Tank Crew up and running on your triple screen setup from the Commanders position or external views. Hope they get the FOV issue worked out for you.
Rameses Posted December 7, 2021 Author Posted December 7, 2021 Thanks SCG_Neun, I sure do hope so. There must be quite a few people who run a triple monitor setup so I guess this would be a common issue? Commander view; And as above; 1
MajorMagee Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) Well, there is a plain text file called camerasight.cfg in the luascripts\cameras folder (in scripts.gtp). It looks like DefaultFOVGrad = 60.0000 MaximumFOVGrad = 150.0000 MinimumFOVGrad = 30.0000 ZoomVelocity = 0.80000 AngularVelocity = 1.8000 LinearVelocity = 25.0000 DefaultDistanceToTarget = 18.0000 MinDistanceToTarget = 7.0000 MaxDistanceToTarget = 800.0000 DefaultPitch = 15.0000 OffsetEnable = false MaxOffsetAngle = 25.0 OffsetAngleSpeed = 17.0 OffsetModif = 2.8 ISABSSNAP = false k = 0.97 kx = 0.78 ky = 0.8 kz = 0.8 x0 = -15 y0 = 6 z0 = 0 ax0 = 0 ay0 = 0 az0 = -15 [ExplosionTilt] MaxDeviation=0.15f; Periods=0.2,0.05; [end] I suspect the Maximum FOV Grad might be hard coded at 150 so the higher values you need may not be possible even if you edit this file. Test it and you'll know for sure. p.s. After looking at this some more I don't think this is it, because the default ranges in this file don't correspond to the max/min field of view angles available within the tank gunsight screen which is a subset of the gunner seat position FOV. The values you can save in the snapview range from +1 to -1 (zoom in/zoom out), and are pulled as proportional values from some other source(?). You can hand edit the snapview values (right most value in the first row is the gunsight FOV), but you can't go outside the available proportion range of +1 to -1. For example, manually setting a value of -1.25 to get extra zoom out just results in the same view being displayed as -1.00 Edited December 8, 2021 by MajorMagee
Amraam67 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) 14 hours ago, Rameses said: I use a 49" Galaxy Odyssey G9 monitor, which is classified as a 'super ultra wide' screen and I have the same issue the IL2 with the bomb aiming scale being outside the default FOV. There is a mod on the forum that resolves this issue by re-scaling the sight but this mod wont work in multiplayer as mods have to be disabled. With increasing numbers of people using wide screens or triple monitor setups, it would be really useful for the sim to cater for this and auto adjust the FOV based on aspect ratio. Amraam67 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Within Tank Crew I have the same problem with the reticle being outside my FOV when zoomed in.
Rameses Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 @MajorMagee - thanks for sharing this detail, I will look into this later and report back.
Rameses Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 @MajorMagee - none of the changes I made to this file either individually or grouped have had any affect on the truncated scope. I clearly made sure the file was saved in the correct path (data\luascripts\cameras) and Mods were enabled. Appreciate the response and help earlier, thanks. Having a poke around I have found under worldobjects\vehicles\turrets a number of txt files with config values which potentially hold the answer and further files under sights and turrets subfolders all of which need further investigation. Also mention of a sight image under the graphics folder which is an MGM file - are these editable? If anyone out there has changed any sight positions or knows the correct file and parameters to modify would really appreciate any insightful pointers. Just like to state I don't want to encourage anybody to start changing their game files - I'm only looking to get a fix to the problem with the truncated sight on my triple screen setup.
NoelGallagher Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) AS you can see with real pictures through gunsight that additional zoom function TC offers to the players are there for gameplay purpose you can't zoom in like that in real life nor does it look like that in real cases so i recommend you to reset the gunsight zoom to default whenever you need to adjust the recticle if you got that half cutted gunsight look with default zoom setting then sure dev's gotta look in to it to fix it Edited December 10, 2021 by NoelGallagher
Rameses Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 Duly noted NoelGallagher, thanks for the response. Unfortunately even with the viewed zoomed 'out' to the max, there is the issue. Default view is worse. The views are as below; Default View; Zoomed in view; Zoomed out view; I was hoping either a temporary workaround might be an option just to get the optic gauges within the screen or a game fix to allow these to be scaled in relation to screen resolution. Appreciate not everyone will have triple monitors but I'm sure there must be a fair few who do / or have ultra wide screen monitors? I have logged this under the main bugs section so hopefully this will get picked up by the Devs (of course I fully get they have enough on their plates but if someone can find time to look into, will be much appreciated).
[KG]Destaex Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Is it perhaps possible for you to use a hotkey to switch to single monitor when in the gunners position?
