Yes this would be good. So would artillery smoke rounds. Smoke is very hard for games to do though. Particle effects drag CPUs down. But if aircraft can have clouds then that is just smoke on the ground right?

I am not sure, that many tanks had smoke rounds on board. But what is definitely missing is the smoke and dust of explosions staying in the air for quite some time. In game they are gone after a few seconds, IRL they stay for minutes.

Not many tanks may have carried them. Also seem to remember the smoke round grenade launchers on tigers being removed because they had some sort of fault that made them ignited when hit?

But artillery certainly used smoke and you are right about the dust. The battlefield should be covered in sometimes it especially with all the arty about in some battles.

S!,

I would like to see smoke rounds just to be clear.  I can't see them adding smoke rounds, unfortunately. Just as KG mentioned, I believe it would bog the server down. Think about a single Sherman adding 10 rounds of smoke then multiple that by the number of tanks. The cost in computing power could get very high.

I have a trigger that will pop ground smoke, but you have to be careful remembering that AI do not have any problem with visibility in such situations.  You could be right about the 24/7 open servers with smoke rounds being too much of a resource drain.  Although I haven't noticed much of a problem in my missions which usually have a lot of smoke and fire, in addition to when smoke is deployed.

If you watch a little bit of this video you can see ground smoke having been deployed as the Americans try a bridge assault.  Marking enemy entrenched positions with smoke so our air support can get a fix would be really neat.

Yep I just realised smoke is a thing when I played last night. It just shows you what an afterthought this module is when smoke is not modelled for vision though. We are simply using the flight sim modules existing assets.

I was simply testing TrackIR which I initially had trouble enabling but figured out in the end.
