Feldgrun Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 (edited) I'm trying to set a quick practice mission (like IL-2 GB) where I'd be right behind another aircraft from the start. I've figured out the + - = positions, but it always seems that we're miles apart (3.5 km). How can I shorten the distance between us so I can see them from the start, say 2,000 meters? If I'm pursuing an aircraft that nearly matches my speed, it takes forever to close in battle if they're on the horizon. I thought the "Diff. [m]" option would be the distance between planes, either horizontally or vertically, but apparently not. Edited December 8, 2021 by Feldgrun
352nd_Wheels Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 You would need to edit the Quick mission templates to shorten the distance between starting aircraft locations. The Altitude is your height at the start of the mission. The Situation determines if the aircraft is in front of you (None), you are behind the aircraft (Advantage), or if the aircraft is behind you (Disadvantage). The Diff [m] option determines how much above or below your starting height the opposing aircraft is placed. Altitude - 3500 m Situation - Disadvantage Diff [m] - 1000m (opposing aircraft is placed at 4500 meters and behind you.) The QMB is a very simple and dumb program that only takes existing templates and alters preexisting missions placed in the Missions/Quick folder. If the template maker names the templates incorrectly you can even get the wrong Situation created when the QMB mission is generated.
