GunneryAce Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Hi guys! I just transferred everything over to a new PC and want to move the settings that I had from my old computer. Which files/folders should i copy over to save the Graphic settings, and the controls as well possibly (i know ill have to redo the control mappings, but at least i can see which ones i manually changed before so i can redo them on the new PC). Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

I don't know about the graphics setting, but the control mapping files can be copied and transferred. Copy the \data\input folder.

Jade_Monkey Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Data> startup.cfg That file has all your graphics and game settings saved so you don't have to re-do it. Data > Input folder has all the joystick mappings
Rjel Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 There you go GunneryAce. The Input folder from within the Data folder is most important as posted by two of the three leading most knowledgeable community members here. I'll let you assign which is the third.... 1

JimTM Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 (edited) I don't know if you will run into this problem but after finishing my latest build and copying my input files from my backup, my controls did not work properly. I believe it was an issue with the order in which Windows 10 on the new PC registered my controllers. I did the following to solve the issue: 1. In the IL-2 Settings screen, note the existing joystick number for each controller (e.g., joy0_..., joy1_...). 2. Close IL-2. 3. Unplug all controllers used by IL-2. 4. Plug in the first controller (i.e., joy0_...) and wait for it to register. 5. Start IL-2 and then close it. The devices.txt file in \data\input will contain a line for the first controller only. 6. Repeat step 4 and 5 for one controller at a time, in sequence (i.e., 1, 2, etc.). You do not need to close IL-2 after you start it for the last controller. I'm not sure if there is a simpler way to solve the issue such as plugging in the controllers in order and then starting IL-2 or just editing the devices.txt file. Edited December 4, 2021 by JimTM 1

I figured it would rearrange the joystick numbers since i plugged them into the new pc, so ill probably have to try this route.
Nic727 Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Hi, I transferred Il2 to a new computer. When I copy the input folder and replace the one already in the new install, I get an error "can't write on disk" or something like that. Also, how to transfer scripted campaign or career saves? Thank you
