AvGeek19 Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Yes, great plane! Probably going to buy BON once this beauty is released
Bremspropeller Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 (edited) It's not just the fin-fillet, but also (and more importantly) the reverse boost-tab modification, turning the rudder-trim into a combined counter boost-tab to increase the required rudder-force. It's not the slow-rolls that took off the tail, but rudder-reversals and overcontrols during the maneuver, leading to sideslip-angles up to or even greater than 15° beta. It's essentially the same failure mode as on American Airlines 587 - with the variation that on the P-51 the horizontal tail seemed to fail first. I'm kind of curious if that problem hadn't been there on Allison Mustangs or whether the deeper cowling of the Merlin brought up this issue, increasing side-area on the fwd fuselage. I know this because I recently purchased his wonderful book, To Fly and Fight, and he signed it for me and I emailed back and forth with his son Jim (another fighter pilot) a bit. It would be a lovely gift to have the Old Crow livery as a default for his birthday! I am quite sure he would be delighted! You can contact him at https://toflyandfight.com/contact/ 2
Livai Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 I am missing the Mk 21 Gyro-Gunight on the P-51B............

The P-51B-7-NA/P-51C-3-NT block with the Packard V-1650-3 engine introduced the 85 gallon fuselage tank on the production line. If this aircraft is going to have the Packard V-1650-7 engine this engine was introduced in production block P-51B-15/P-51C5-NT. Which production block(s) are we getting for the P-51B/C aircraft in the game? Edited December 8, 2021 by --[---MAILMAN---- grammar
TheWuegersswueger Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Wow, great work! Looking forward to flying this plane!!!
atyour6 Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Greatly Appreciate the incredible work!! I know quality takes time but was just wondering about how the DVD (Dynamic Visual Damage) is coming along. It seems like I can see this effect on certain tanks but it was noted a while back that the P51D was also affected. Maybe its my system or something but I dont see any difference on any aircraft. However looking very forward to it as the clouds and the tracer appearance (especially at a distance) looks so freaking real.. Cant wait for the P51 B!! Thanks!
CAFulcrum Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I just want to say (a little late) how much I appreciate the new AQMB, it's the first time with this game that I've actually kept going back to play it beyond checking out the latest update/plane release. Also looking forward to the p51b, in past sims it's been a bit more maneuverable and easier to fly than the 51d, so it'll be interesting to see how it does with the il2 treatment.
