baksie Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Sorry newbie here. Does anyone have pictures of the soft spots on all the tanks?
[KG]Destaex Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 You would have to look at historical documents for that. Not sure an in game armour layout sheet exists for this game. 1
Hanu Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I remember reading that Early Shermans (also called Ronsons) had their soft spot marked with white star in the side armor? ☺️ (later additional armor plate was welded there) 1

S!, As a general rule, the front of every tank is better than the sides or the back. If the opportunity is there, shoot sides or rear of the target tank. Every tank is a little different, but if the tank has any flat spots exposed (90' vertical sides) shot those areas. Again, these are general rules. Every tank type is a little different. HB
ShampooX Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Also a great rule is aim for the flat spots, and research and know where the gunner sits in each model of tank. Shermans in this game are notoriously tough outs - harder than even history records - so I've taken to shooting the front left side of the turret where the gunner sits. It seems to work better. Flats spots on T34's and KV's are the mantlet "cheeks." I also try to hit the turret ring but not sure if this provides much of an advantage or not. Another thing to study is where the tank stores it's ammo. For panzers and Shermans this can get you some nice explosions on side facing shots. Welcome and have fun!!
No_Face Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 One thing I like to do when I can't get through the frontal armor is to shoot in front of the target (on the ground) so that the shell ricochets and hits the tank from below.

I fired at the rear fuel tank location on the lower side of the Panther (between the wheels)... it exploded! The sim seems to be accurate enough that it is possible to use the historical documents. The same thing with aiming at the stored ammunition along the sides of the ISU's crew compartment. It'd be pretty cool if someone were to put together historical charts for a number of tanks though... so we don't have to track them down.
ShampooX Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Another thing about the Panther: if you can hit the mantlet’s downward slope you can deflect the shell through the front deck and get an ammo rack or a knockout of driver gunner and funker. It works in the game just as it did in real life.
Avimimus Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) So... Panther - Aim for the low gun mantlet, to bounce a round through the roof. Tiger - Aim for the turret (and commander cupola) with 122mm or 152mm HE rounds works. Sometimes even a 76.2mm shell hitting the cupola can destroy it! Elephant -Aim for the forward upper superstructure with a with a 122mm or 152mm HE round to send fragments into the engine. Aim for the tracks, then flank. There also seems to be a weak point on the lower part of the rear hull =? German tank-turrets - Aim for the circular self-defense weapon ports on the turret German Heavy tanks - fire from the side at <500m with an APHE round into the lower rear hull between the road wheels? What else? Update: I've fired about thirty rounds into the Panther mantlet with none of them being decisive. It seems like it is better to aim for the gun itself (in order to disable the main-gun) or try to get an APHE round into the turret ring itself. Bouncing AP rounds down into the hull does nothing in my experience. Useful: Tank Archives: Weak Spots and Hit Zones Edited January 3, 2022 by Avimimus
Arditi Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 t-34: shoot with the 20mm flak 38 into the driver's open hatch?
Na-zdorovie Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 (edited) this is the soft spot on a Tiger Edited January 2, 2022 by Na-zdorovie 3
No_Face Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) I am making a series of videos showing the weak points of the tanks. I'll have more time in a week, when I'm on vacation, but I'm already putting a video up. EDIT : I delete the video. I'd like to try something else. Edited January 10, 2022 by No_Face

But it doesnt matter if you are shooting at the german tanks. side penetration anywhere except the engine means explosion. Front penetration in tiger, panther means explosion. Only Panzer III, IV can survive front penetrations and of course ferdinand which has engine at the front.
