Assigning missions as commander?

Hi tankers,

as a RL IFV commander there are certain things I‘d like to be able to do with my AI crew - most importantly assigning missions additional to giving commands.
For the driver this would mean assigning waypoints (more then one) with at least three different speeds with a specific hull direction in the end additional to giving commands such as fast forward or turn right.

For the gunner this would mean assigning area he‘ll scan himself with according rules of engagement (such as fire at will, only return fire or fire when close) additional to assigning specific targets to destroy.

Are your crew competent? Will driver find a way instead of trying to move in a straight line at any cost? Will the gunner shoot effectively or do you have to jump into their roles if it has to be done right?

One step up - if your a Platoon leader can you assign missions to your other vehicles like waypoints and firing areas or how do you command?

Last question do the free tanks have full commanders functionality so I can test everything before committing to TC?

Thanks!

Mmmmh, unfortunately none of this is doable ... and anyway, there is no AI for allies and enemies (or the AI of a brain dead oyster ...) .

the additional features of the tanks are just the number of posts and the interior of the tanks ...

Thank you for a quick and honest answer. If you can’t lead an AI crew in any realistic way - can you at least unrealistically do everything yourself at the same time? Like driving and moving the turret at the same time while watching the battlefield from the hatch and switching to gunner sight instantly?

Warthunder style if you will?

Yes you can. There are a few things you have to be aware of.

In some missions your AI gunner will suddenly take over control of the turret, when you are in commanders position and engage targets, he would IRL not know of, as they are outside of his view angle.

When you are in gunners position and want to see in which direction your gun is pointing, you would have to leave control over the gun to be able to move your head, but then your turret turns back to driving position, so 12 o'clock.

When you are looking out of the commanders hatch, you will see a white circle showing you 'here is enemy'.

You have no throttle, just maximum forward and backward and full left/right. There is no real gear shifting, but you can set the maximum gear your AI driver will shift up to. This way you can control the gear, but your AI driver will drive with maximum revs, which will damage your engine over time.

As former IFV commander myself (Spz Marder) I have to say, there are some quirks, which need to be looked at.
