Historic aces

I have been flying in JG52 with Gunther Rall for about half a year in game. And i got to a point where i get message after every mission that he has been transfered to my squad even though i he is there all the time.  
sometime around december he stopped shooting down planes and landed on 38 victories. This got me curious and i dug deep on wikipedia and found out that he was injured in december 41 and returned in august 42.

but he is still flying in my squadron and is not on a "holiday" like if i see Hrabak or others in the campaign that are on a leave.

does this replicate when did historical aces score kills, so when i reach august 42 and Rall should be back in war he will start to score kills again? Herman Graf another ace is scoring from time to time in another squadron so i guess that should be correct.
Also that message that Rall is transfered back to my squad is a bug? Maybe this prevents him from scoring outside my mission like other pilots do
