Just replace the blood with spiders

All this time I thought it was oil splatters I was seeing???

As to the original poster, while I can respect his opinion, it does seem odd to sign up on a gaming site just to post a complaint for a game he might or might not own.

I don't know about you guys, but I won't be satisfied until I get to experience this masterpiece of special effects from the Battle of Britain in VR.

I've always loved how the pilot keeps going about his business despite the fact that the greenhouse was just shattered by a generous broadside of .303 rounds and his nose gunner got heinzed in the face.

In case anyone wants to know where this came from:

I know ground crews working on the tails of Lancasters and Halifaxs sometimes suffered from PTSD. Cannon rounds do a lot of destruction and often the ground crews cleaning the tail wouldn't get everything before the ground crews doing the repairs. It was easy to miss pieces.

IMO 2 things are silly about this discussion:

1) Different blokes, different strokes - optional stuff is optional and doesn't hurt ppl who opt otherwise. MP would still have to have the same impairment, but what would one care if it is red or grey/ dark/ black matter on the screen splashing for someone else? The impairment needs to be the same, not the color. Personally I find it bewildering that you are ok with dropping bombs on virtual human beings but cannot stand blood, but that is me, and if someone feels otherwise I can respect that.

2) Stop using kids as an argument for combat sims. Combat sims are not for children, whether that includes blood or not. Someone who feels that doing combat stuff with children is appropriate (up until a certain age), should not complain about blood. Someone who wants to "just show the flying part", will not have to put up with blood anyway, because he shouldn't fly a scenario where you are being shot. And if he does, part one of this remark applies. Either way: stop using kids as an argument in combat sims. It is like playing an FPS game and asking for less cursing, "because my children could hear it". Use a headset and keep your children away from content that is not meant for them.

I'd like more blood for FC, just so I know when those pesky gunners have been perforated.

I personally am for the absolute reality of air combat. The effects depicted here are very mild and acceptable. Nevertheless we want the larger possible community so I would support that we do put a switch like Gore=1 for those who prefer nice and clean surgical war (believe me it does not exist), and for those who enjoy other aspects of this sim, and that's perfectly fine with me. In exchange for that switch I would then make the wounded pilot blood effects even more realistic depending on where the bullet when through, like legs, arms torso, to make it simple.

We have discussed a lot about blood, but the reality is not only blood. It is also fire, it is high temperature coolant, petrol and oil burning through the cockpit. It is in some cases the pilot having to sustain terrible burns mainly on hands and legs, and sometimes to die burnt alive. When the plane dives in flames and you eject sometimes ejection should fail, either because you can't get out (perish in flames), or you jump and your parachute is in flames (perish after a long fall). This should also be depicted in a more realistic fashion, but again please put the switch Fire = 1.

I need some smokes for my pilot and a bottle of vodka pre-takeoff.  Have my old dog waiting for me on the ramp if I don't make it back for the next lifecycle.

Jeez.

Why not have the pilot's life flash before his eyes too? Or make it so that ince every 50 times the allied pilot's chute gets tangled in a tree and villagers come and poke his groins with pitchforks and he is forced to watch helplessly his intestines fall through his open abdomen and settle on a puddle of blood on the ground as he is slowly tortured to death.

You should have a buddy standing by with a bag of rocks and broken glass. That way when you take a hit, he wallops you in the appropriate spot with everything he can muster. Realism!!

Okay, maybe the term "absolute" was a little to strong. Nevertheless in VR world one day when you will have a full haptic body  suit you could indeed get also a feel of what means getting hit by a bullet, and maybe that suit could also hamper the use of the arm or legs in case you are wounded or when you feel high G forces.

Another level in realism or into what we would say as Look & Feel but this time in a more physical way.

I d have to agree with your post to a large degree.
Many people do not understand the suffering that went on daily. We do not have to relive every gory detail, but it should reflect on your performance.

I guess I can understand someone being a bit squeamish over "gore", but virtual gore? I don't understand that. Then again, I'm not easily grossed out or offended. I reckon that's the beauty of human diversity.

Thank goodness I have my government to tell me what I should think is obscene or offensive!  I wouldn't know what to think, feel, or how to act otherwise.
