I have IL2 1946 with it patched to 4.13.4 . After reading alot of posts here. I have to reinstall 1946 to an earlier patch , lets say 4.12.2 . So I can get these mods for the PTO missions and such. Also I'd like to take advantage of the sales that are now here and pretty soon my HD will be full of IL2.  Lol I'll need a new HD 1TB if not more.

 

BTW where does one find a server. to play Great Battles? Steam?

to fly great battles oline (not il2 1946), nothing to do with steam, select multiplayer from the main game menu, then dogfight (unless you know there is a co-op server running). That will bring up a list of servers. Just beware if you have mods enabled it will only give a list of servers enabling you to run mods - so you may get a very short list.

I just bought the campaigns at the IL2 store today. It will be awhile to install everything I've bought. Then getting the rust off of me lol.

I just created an account to get in on this. I too just reinstalled the game, my version is FB/AEP/PE2/Something/1946. I should add that my game is a CD version, no Steam involved. Then I just spent an hour getting my mouse and keyboard to work, 2007 software is not happy with Win 10, but I think I have it now.

 

My first goal is to try VR, I own a newer rev HP G2, it totally rocks in simracing but I wanna try it here.

 

So I will start reading about the mod channels kraut posted, and I just looked at the FAQ, but is there a good guide to noobs or better yet old farts asking noob questions?

Il-2 1946 (is a pretty old game) doesn't natively support VR so I believe you wont find what you are looking for. Il-2 Great Battle Series is the latest entry into the game and does support VR. It is a different game to the one you've got on your CD so you would have to purchase that to play the new title.
