Deltahawkoz Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Hi all, Just practicing landings, it seems as if I touch down and its followed by a ground loop almost everytime...in the P47...I seem to be on the numbers...I can recall the same sort of behavior from way back with the Mig 3 as well...Note that I do not get this in other flight sims, particularly il2 Tobruk for eg...
JimTM Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 (edited) This topic has been discussed many times before. Try this search in Google: site:il2sturmovik.com ground loop In short: Land as straight as possible. Apply quick stabs of rudder during the first part of your landing. Apply quick stabs of brake during the later part of your landing. Don't let any turn develop during your rollout; correct it at the first sign. If you start to turn too much, apply brake/rudder for a longer time, but stop correcting as soon as the turn subsides. Keep correcting any turns until your plane is in the hanger and you have your feet up in the officers mess. Edited November 25, 2021 by JimTM
Enceladus828 Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 I ask the structural integrity of the elevators and horizontal stabilizers of the IL-2 (all variants in the game) during a ground loop at speeds of 80 or less km/h as every time that happens the elevator on the affected side breaks off and the horizontal stabilizer in the effect side bends upwards?
357th_Esco Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) If you have brakes on a key press it will always do 100% brakes when pressed which will cause you to ground loop unless you have excellent control. If you are using a plane with a brake lever on the handle (mig,spit,IL2) I suggest putting the brake on a axis. I used to ground loop all the time until I moved it to an axis. It allows me to press less than 100% brakes making the rudder peddles less sensitive. Always put brakes on axis when possible. If planes have a lockable tail wheel make sure it’s locked. I think the 47 has one. Edited January 1, 2022 by VBF-12_Esco
