Blitzen Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I thought I had successfully re-installed new pin-up photos in all the planes cockpits in the graphics/planes/texture folders and initially they do , but it seems as if when I re-start the game they revert to stock/default photos( really boring too.) This seems to happen whether I have “Photos in Cockpit” mod off or on or whether I tick the option in game. I have saved /copied the “textures “ folder so I can easily re-install my pin-up choices but its frustrating when they keep on replacing my choices with the default “losers..”
Stonehouse Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Game update since last you installed? If so it possibly clobbered what you did previously.
Charlo-VR Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Yep, if you updated the game since the last time you saw your modded cockpit photos, then the game update overwrote your modded photos with the stock cockpit photos. This is why most of us who prefer something other than the stock cockpit photos use JSGME (Google that acronym if you don’t know what JSGME is) to add or remove our mods, especially for cockpit photos since each plane has its own texture folder for its cockpit photo. Using JSGME, when I read a game update has been released, I’ll remove my mods via JSGME before updating the game, then after the game is updated I’ll reenable my mods via JSGME. In this way I never lose my mods (unless, of course, a mod itself is “broken” because of an update to the game, but that is rare)
Na-zdorovie Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Or better still use OVGME, it's the more up to date one

Here you are:https://github.com/jweisner/ovgme I wrote some kind of quick step guide here on this forum, but actually can't find it wright now. Oops - just found it by accident. So here you are: Edited November 24, 2021 by THERION
Blitzen Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 I've had JSGME for years & use it- is this anything different?

Yes, it is newer tech although also old now - if you read my thoughts in the link provided, you will see some advantages you will have with it compared to the JSGME. With OVGME you will be able to manage different games for modding and you also use CLOD if I'm correct. So, you have one tool to manage your mods for different games.
SCG_Tzigy Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Or just put the pictures in your folders manually for your most favorite planes that's what I did it never gets overwritten.. 1

Unless you need to re-install the game. If you ever need to do that there are several folders you would want to back up. For your cockpit pictures back up the 'Planes' folder in data > graphics. Inside is the 'Textures' folder that contains your custom cockpit photos/pilots notes and custom 'B' (alpha) layers.
Vishnu Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 In this thread I tell you how....unfortunately, I found the easiest way is to do each photo manually, per aircraft, so you have a different picture in each one. I don't use JSME for this.
Blitzen Posted January 25, 2022 Author Posted January 25, 2022 Well D__n! Cockpit photos diappeared again after the last update. They don't work if loaded manually & don't work if I use JSGME.I have tried every variation and get "butcus"...now what?
Charlo-VR Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 When using JSGME we have to remember to disable all mods before updating the game. Otherwise any mods get overwritten when the game updates. Hopefully, you still have the cockpit photos saved in your JSGME mods folder so you can simply activate it again now that you have updated the game
