GodTickles Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I can launch the Cliffs of Dover but I cannot launch the Cliffs of Dover Blitz. I tried all the relevant fixes listed in the thread about crash issues. Turned off afterburner, turned off Steam overlay, etc. Ran the file repair in steam. This bomms me out because I bought Tobruk in anticipation of VR and can't even launch it. Please help.
FurphyForum Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 @GodTickles, As you say you can run the OLD CLod - (which you don't need anymore), but can't run 'Blitz'. Please, you need to consult this first, esp the Installation section Hope this helps, if not, provide as much info as possible so Mbrs can assist and help you.

Please, you need to consult this first, esp the Installation section Hope this helps, if not, provide as much info as possible so Mbrs can assist and help you. Well, I went thru the manuals trouble shooter. Basically, everything there either was not relevant. I have uninstalled both versions of the game. And I am reinstalling CLoD Blitz. Double checked to ensure virus protection is off. The only thing in the troubleshooter I could not do was remove the Dx9g.dll file. Because I could not find it. I ran a search in the game folder and the PC could not find it either. So I am assuming it is not there. I am running windows 10 pro. Afterburner is installed but not running when I try to launch the game. I don't really know what other info you need to try to help. I am not a PC guy. And I have very little installed on my PC. Basically just IL2 Great Battles, CLoD, DCS, Afterburner. I run a Nvidia 1660 gpu. But I don't keep the Nvidia programs running either because they have caused issues in the past.
9./JG52_J-HAT Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 (edited) Try it now after having done all this without having original CloD installed. The problem with having both games installed is that the Documents/1C SoftClub/Cliffs of Dover folders can get mixed up. So the game doesn‘t work correctly because the configuration files in there are all mixed up. The tips in the guide are things that may have caused problems in the past for some people. So not necessarily will be relevant. I think in your case it‘s the mixed up folders screwing the game‘s config (not your fault). Turn SteamCloud off before doing anything. It may synch outdated and wrong config files and make your game stop working. If it still doesn‘t work, let us know where it crashes. If you launch the game, the banners come up then nothing, try these steps: What you can try straight away in this case is to set Launcher.exe (in the main game folder) to Windows 7 compatibility mode (right click, properties, compatibility tab). If it still doesn’t work, you can just delete the whole 1C SoftClub folder and launch the game (make sure to back the .ini files in there, since they contain your loadouts, key bindings etc.). You can also try an integrity check from Steam (right click the game in the library, properties, file integrity check or something similar). This usually does it. If you can get to the menus and all but it crashes when hitting fly (the the game world renders), the causes are related to (probably graphics) settings. Of this is the case, try the above steps and let us know of it worked. If not, it can be a bit tricky to solve. Good luck! Edited November 23, 2021 by 9./JG52_J-HAT
GodTickles Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 All I get is banners, a few seconds of black screen with a loading circle. After that the game crashes and I am looking at the desk top. I got this thru steam if it matters. I do not even see the folder you recommended erasing. It seems to me, since this is the second time I have been directed to clear a folder that is not even there, I am getting a bad install. But I wouldn't know why. I just want the damn game to work. I have tried every single fix I can find and done everything suggested I can. Except erase files I don't have. Not gonna lie. This is pissing me off. If I remember correctly. Blitz never worked and I did not understand the difderence between blitz and the other version. I thought when I got Tobruk, I would be able to fly it. Guess I was wrong.
GodTickles Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 Please don't take it personal that the issue is pissing me off. Because it is the issue, not the help that is annoying.

GodTickles Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 Omg. I just kept reading, messing with shit, and blindly tryingnto fix it. And suddenly, i got to the in game menu. I think it works. I am so stoked. Damn it. It crashed when a quick mission finished loading.
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 S! @GodTickles The 1C Softclub folder is located in your Documents folder. As said above safe to delete as it rebuilds itself. Just save the setting files if needed. After that to avoid futher problems it is advsable to delete the cache folder under 1c Softclub. Again, rebuilds itself. I do delete it after making changes to GPU settings or game settings and after updates. Anothr thing is to set the Windows 7 compatability mode to Launcher64.exe. It helps in many issues if you have them. Also disable Steam Overlay, Steam controller input etc. Any overlays are more trouble than worth IMHO. Another thing is to run in Full screen mode, selected from in-game menu. And one more, do not force any graphical settings thru GPU control panel, usually breaks more than fixes for next to no gains.
GodTickles Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Game is still crashing after loading any mission. I get to the menu now but still can't fly the game. This is seriously disappointing. I tried deleting the file suggested but it would not completely delete. I tried every other thing suggested and some things not suggested. I SPENT MONEY ON THIS GAME. IT WOULD BE NICE TO USE IT.

I realize you have re-installed a couple times, but the first thing you need to do is verify the install through Steam. You also need to go into your 'documents' folder and delete the entire 1c SoftClub folder. Let the game rebuild this folder when you start again. Your current folder may be corrupted with the old CLIFFS OF DOVER game version. Have you read through the 'Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide'? I can't emphasize this enough.... there are multiple fixes for common issues dealt with in the guide and suggestions to avoid issues. Please read it thoroughly. Among other issues noted in the Guide: When you installed, did you turn off your Anti-Virus? This can block a number of elements. Turn off, Install, Turn on again. The fact you can launch the game and get to the menu, but crash when attempting to fly a mission also suggests there might be a video card problem. Are you up to date with the latest Video Card drivers? What are your system specs? Can you post them?
GodTickles Posted December 1, 2021 Author Posted December 1, 2021 I have literally done everything sugfested twice. Deleted the old CLoD. Deleted the new CLoD. Deleted the 1C SoftClub folder, although it would not fully erase. Turned off all antivirus software and all firewall software fornthe reinstall. Verified thru steam the file integrity or what ever they call it. Redeleted the 1C SoftClub folder, again it wouldn't fully delete. Disabled the Nvidia experience software. Turned off Afterburner. Prior to the reinstall, I deleted everyother game that was on the pc except DCS. So all Gaijin trash is gone as well. Everything is up to date as far as drivers. Ever time an update is out, I install it immediately. I have a Logitech X52 flight stick but since Logitech drivers are junk I can not run the drivers and had to revert to generic windows drivers for the stick just to get it to function. I have a RogStrix B550-F gaming motherboard, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 core processor, Corsair Vengeance ram( 2x16gb), Nvidia 1660 GPU. I am running a legitimate version of windows 10 Pro 64bit. Also hooked up is an Oculus Rift S VR. And when I tried to run the game, beside having Afterburner off, I made sure absolutely nothing was running. Even kept the Virus and firewall off. I basically did absolutely everything I could think of to ensure there was not a conflict. And now I am at a complete loss of what to do. I launched the game to generate the crash report. I don't even know if this helps. But it was just now. 9./JG52_J-HAT Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 (edited) Hey @GodTickles , if I may add to the discussion. If you can‘t fully delete the 1C Folder there is probably where your problem lies. Make sure you have full access to that folder with editing/deleting privilege with the user you are logged on. What does it say when it can‘t delete it? What error do you get from Windows (file in use, not enough permission etc.). Please post a screenshot of what happens when you delete the 1C folder. So, here the shorter procedure to try to solve the corrupted files: Uncheck SteamCloud for the game if it’s still on. Then do an integrity check from Steam. It checks your game files and tries to repair them. If that doesn‘t work, delete the 1C Sofclub folder. Make sure it‘s completely gone. If you can‘t delete it, there is a problem with your Windows causing that (protected folder or the game still running for some reason). Solve that and delete the folder. If this still doesn‘t work, go for the whole procedure again: Uninstall old CloD (in case it’s still there), leave it uninstalled. Uninstall Blitz, leave it uninstalled. Search for every instance of the 1C SoftClub folder you may have on ANY of your drives (even if they all should be under Documents). Delete them all. If an error pops up, make a screenshot and post it here. They should be completely deleted. Once you are sure there are no more folders called 1C SoftClub, reinstall CloD:Blitz. Test it and let us know. I know it‘s annoying and you are pissed, but if you haven‘t given up yet it‘s worth a try doing the above. Drivers or Afterburner don‘t usually cause problems. More likely other programs interfering with DirectX or corrupted install / config files. No need to fiddle with that at this point before doing the more basic stuff mentioned above. Usually if it isn‘t corrupted files, Win7 compatibility solves the crashes when hitting fly, which didn‘t for you. Also disabling overlays like Steam, TeamSpeak or Nvidia Experience. Edited December 2, 2021 by 9./JG52_J-HAT Oh the spelling…
GodTickles Posted December 1, 2021 Author Posted December 1, 2021 Understand, I am not pissed at you or anyone involved in Team Fusion. I will try the recommended fixes. But I did read to disable steam cloud so that is done. I have basically done everything I could find to do. But i will try what you suggest. And thank you for the help. I tried to send a pic of the deletion problem. On my phone. But it was to large. It says, Error0x8007016a: The cloud file provider is not running. And this happens for several of the files in the folder. I believe afyer a quick search, this is due to me not wanting to set up Microsofts BS OneDrive.
9./JG52_J-HAT Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Yes, OneDrive seems to be blocking it then. Try to do it without having the Documents folder in the OneDrive root. There are ways to make that work (using link shell extension for example) but better to test it in a „normal“, simple scenario and make sure it works before doing more advanced stuff.
GodTickles Posted December 2, 2021 Author Posted December 2, 2021 Your suggestions worked. Thank you very much. So stoked to fly it in VR when it is released. 1 1

Anyone using the game should avoid storing anything to do with it on the Cloud.
Metaphyzikal Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 gawd. I cannot play this game! I deleted the softclub folder, I verified the game files, and turned off one drive. I have windows 11, Ryzen 5700g CPU 32GB ram, 4gb Radeon RX560 GPU.

Or low frame rates? Your video card is a little weak for the game... so you may need to turn down your resolution. Please have a look at the 'Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide'. It is located in the 'manuals' folder inside your main CLIFFS OF DOVER install folder.
LLv34_Flanker Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 S! Adding to above mentioned tips. I never install my games under Windows and/or Program files. I have all games, including Steam, on my D:\ drive. C:\ is purely for Windows. Trackers and TeamSpeak etc work fine under Windows. And can not emphasize enough that use a minimum of 3rd party programs, overlays etc. while playing, more like begging for trouble than worth it. Controller issues are mostly related to Steam Input, should be OFF. And also having overlapping mappings. CloD enables an easy way to make and save profiles for each plane you fly minimizing issues. Have a nice day all
