Enceladus828 Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Hello all. Today is November 19th, which means that it is also the 80th anniversary of the final battle and loss of HMAS Sydney (II): the ship which was the Pride and Darling of the Royal Australian Navy in World War 2. I have done a series on the Cliffs of Dover forum to commemorate HMAS Sydney from when she was built to her loss, which is definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. 4 of the 5 parts have been released and I should have Part 5 out before Monday. Part 1: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/75081-the-life-and-death-of-hmas-sydney-ii-part-1/ Part 2: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/75231-the-life-and-death-of-hmas-sydney-ii-part-2/ Part 3: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/75365-the-life-and-death-of-hmas-sydney-ii-part-3/ Part 4 (covers the final battle and loss of Sydney): https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/75391-the-life-and-death-of-hmas-sydney-ii-part-4/ Hope those who haven't checked out this series yet enjoy it ? pilotpierre Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Yesterday (19 Nov) the one recovered body from HMAS Perth was identified through DNA. Not only a good story the timing of your post was a little spooky. As a retired RAN Warrant officer (1963 to 1983) I look forward to reading your 5 part series
MisterSmith Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Moved to History. Doesn't belong in Great Battles/General but I'll let it stand in the History section. Redirect from General to here will remain active for 30 days. 1
