This is just so much fun!

Hello and particularly to the developers.

PLEASE continue to develop, finish and then enhance this sim BUT even in it's current state of 51% completion (whatever that actually means) it's wildly entertaining and worth every bit of the money I've already spent. It's got great immersion and (much to my surprise and it took a few flights to fully realize it) exceeds the orginal IL-2 in many ways, not least graphical touches. There's a long way to go (get my bf-109 artifical horizon gauge working!) but the potential is vast and I NEED A BIGGER MONITOR!!!

Seriously guys, you don't get enough praise sometimes. Non-developers have no idea how difficult it is to code something like this and already it seems very stable; I've had almost no system crashes (plenty of landing crashes of course). Great work, keep it up!

Les, I'm a 150% with you on this.

IL2 BOS is mking me dance in the skies like no other before :-)

Regarding landings, provided you land 3 points, porpoising will occur a lot less than when you try to land 2 points, still having enough speed to fly, specially helped by ground effect. Train 3-point landings in the Quick Mission Editor and you will be fine. Ah! And, just like IRL, if you "jump" after the initial contact, never give stick! Let it be where it is, or pull a bit when about to land for the 2nd time :-)

Although I dont think we have the 51% to play around with at the moment?

But I agree, I have never been so happy with a pre-access buy before and will probably spend alot on more planes, map, expansions, etc, whatever....

The quality of this flightsim so far is in my opinion so beyond my expections already, anything more is a bonus.

Still waiting for the heavy bombers though...  :P

Good times indeed!

Keep up the good work, devs. Looking forward to the full release and then hopefully a bright future filled with aircraft, maps and whatnot.

After you're done, go make me an I-16 to fly and I'll go get my spade to shovel some money your way.

Yes!  An I-16 !!!! I love RATAs !!!! ( the portuguese speaking budies will know what I mean... )

Don't get me wrong people, I really like BOS so far.

With that said, I still don't understand how is this already above your expectations? What were your expectations then in the first place? Obviously much lower then mine when it comes to features and content.

I mean, this game meets my expectations in things done so far and can wear IL2 prefix proudly, but I expect a lot more before I would say it met my expectations and everything else is just a bonus.

Apart from QMB, what is it that you have already surpassing everything you expected?

I for one still have to see missions, mission editor (comes in a year or so I know), coops support, and wishful hoping for in engine built CoopLobby so we don't have to rely on external programs like HL to que up for coop missions.

Those are my minimal expectations on top of already great FM and DM before I can say this game is all I hoped for.

I love work done so far, but IMHO, current state can be over every expectations only for MP DF airquakers (nothing wrong with it, best way to practice actually). But if DF online game is not everything you will play, then one simply must be wanting more MP & SP content that is not 'just a bonus' but is mandatory for game longevity. I know I do.

Still, great work so far, but I actually expected as much regarding DM and FM from creators of ROF. Anything less would be let down from these guys.

Salute!

I agree with you in a lot of ways, Cyclops. There´s a lot of things not currently in the game that I would expect to be in there. But not until it's properly released later this year. If at the time of the full release there isn't a substantial single player component in the form of a campaign and single (somewhat randomized perhaps) missions, then my sentiment will instantly change.

However, right now while they're still working hard, testing all over the place and whatnot, I'll cut them a lot of slack. This is early access after all and while that seems to be becoming a crutch for more and more developers, it's still a valid excuse not to have all features in right from the start.

There were single missions in earlier on in the program. They say those missions are rolled into the QMB or something now, which I don't see at all. But I'm sure they'll be back in proper form once the game gets released. If they aren't, then I'll complain. Until then, I'm waiting and spending time with what is here.

And again, seriously, gimme my I-16, devs. Please?

It is even going to get better!!! Love the job the IL 2 team has done so far.  This sim is going to be something huge when completed. ( already is! )

You keep saying it yourself - SO FAR. I don't see where the confusion is.

I don't think anyone is saying it has exceeded expectations for a finished product.

The sim isn't finished, so all anyone can indicate is how great it is - so far.

The sensation of flight alone will have exceeded many's expectations, and that is fully present in the sim's incomplete state.

I think the I-16 is kind of confirmed to follow later on. Really unique looking plane. The TnB guys dream from what i hear from old IL2?

Posting here to show my gratitude also !

Been here for not that long, I am coming from a "good arcadish game" (WT to not name it), and have been introduced to the simulator via this one (BTW, Thanks to WT for making me dicover Simulation), but since I had my greedy little fingers on IL2, I can just say WOAW !

I never thought I could have so "realistic" feeling of flying, wind and feedback from the plane are just awesome. Almost make me feel that a stall is not a 0 or a 1 in a code line, but something much more complex and intuitve.

In anycase just thank you for this game !

Thx Winger, I didn't know - that's good news really!

Collision detection FAR superior to any IL-2 version so far; tree and building collisions make low level flight massively entertaining and this was NEVER achieved in IL-2 before. It was a feature of COD that allegedyl COULDN'T be added because the developers were incapable of doing so given the available cpu power! Aircraft collisions seem far more accurate in terms of dynamic consequences and damage.

Fire: in aircraft fires are radically improved and effective.

Audio: The variety and sublety of sound is better than ever before. The simple fact that explosion sounds are delayed to match distance from the event (particularly obvious when, having bailed out, your aircraft hits the ground).

Stability: this is more stable than the final version of COD (not saying much I'll agree but ...)

Clouds: Better than ever and the dynamic lighting equally so.

Damage model: park an aircraft and roll your point of view THROUGH it. See all the component parts, the engine, the struts, the tanks, the pedals, the machinery ... all that is dynamically modelled for damage and it's noticeable.

Force feedback: I didn't expect to have it at all so I'm delighted that it's not only present but better than ever before in terms of aircraft feedback and general effects.

Moving objects: did you see a moving windsock on any airfield in any other IL-2 variant (to name but one item)? I think not. I'm guessing it's wind accurate too.

Ground targets: train, with realistic damage model.

Explosions: aircraft exploding on the ground aren't just a static clip of an explosion as before, the exploding debris is trajectory and momentum factored.

Fluids: putting rounds into an enemy aircraft can result in fuel leaks from the wings (don't remember seeing that ever before), smoke and oil from the engine and that oil can get everywhere!

Aircraft model detailing: there's a makers plate with readable stamped writing on the bf-109. The metal skins of aircraft look authentic. The detail of construction is greatly improved from what has gone before. Open the canopy and look/lean outside; there will be correctly timed flames emitting from the exhaust ports.

Humans: pilots and crew look around and have some life. That was never the case before.

I could go on ... there's a long way to go before this is finished but extrapolating to the finished product makes me very happy and again; I didn't expect the software to be this good at this stage of development. I find using it highly amusing even in its unfinished state. FAR more than 'Cliffs Of Dover' sometimes more than 46 sometimes not.

I look at what the announced goals of the project were, and I am amazed by how much of it we already have @51% completion. I suspect we'll end up with more than what was originally offered, but if the quality continues on as it has so far, and we end up with simply what we were offered, and not one bit more, I'm happy. I've paid more money for less enjoyment in the past, that's for sure.
