Alfaunostebas11 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 I was trying a mission with a take-off of a section of MiG-3 from parking position (so with taxiing) and I was faced with a definitely unusual problem. One or more of the planes could not start the engine and therefore the taxiing could not start and the mission was stopped. I realized that this problem seems to occur only with the MiG-3 and not with other aircraft, such as LaGG or Yak, which regularly start up and the mission works. I don't know what to attribute to this different behavior, but it certainly makes it almost impossible to use this type of aircraft in a pit start. I enclose two simple tests, with three planes taking off from Agoy. In one case there are 3 MiGs and in the other 3 Yak. I tried it ten times with the Mig, getting the following result: MiG leader (0 starts), MiG nr. 2 (5 out of 10), MiG nr. 3 (6 out of 10). No problems with the Yaks. Try it yourself ... JimTM Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 This may come down to "AI taxi behaviour is sometimes weird and unpredictable". I tried: Replacing the existing MiGs, moving them to the edge of the taxiway, and adjusting the taxi path accordingly Eliminating the activate logic and making the MIGs enabled by default Eliminating the trigger of WP 1 from the 2s timer (WP 1 is already triggered by the OnPlaneTookOff message) <--- Do this anyway to avoid conflicting commands I don't know if this behaviour affects other planes beside the MiG. You may want to submit a bug report. You could also eliminate the taxi path, place the MiGs on the runway, and see if they start up properly from there (although it may not be what you need for your mission). Good luck!
Alfaunostebas11 Posted November 21, 2021 Author Posted November 21, 2021 Thanks Jim for your always valuable advice. Based on my limited tests, even by varying the starting position (i.e. closer to the runway...) of the MiGs, one or more of these do not start the engine. By replacing them, in the same position and with the same take-off logic, with other planes (I only tried Yak and LaGG), everything works regularly. Of course, if I put the MiGs on the runway, with the engine already running, the problem no longer arises ... So, at the moment I think I'm not using the MiGs for park position take-offs. A slightly better situation occurs when one of the wingmen is the player. In this case, after a few attempts, it may be that all three other MiGs start the engine and the mission begins ... It seems a randomized behaviour ...
