Pict Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 "3 short burst" of what? Looks like you have a pair of 20mm canons under the wings and it looks to be a Bf-109G-6? with the 13mm machine guns...but I can't tell what it has firing through the spinner, is it a 30mm or a 20mm? ============ Either way, 20mm or 30mm in the spinner, assuming your aim was good and it appears to be and at pretty close range, that's going to pack a hefty punch. So I'm not surprised that it tore the Bostons apart as much as I'm surprised that they did seem to shoot back...did you have them without ammo?

If you set the skill to Novice they will barely shoot back and never hit anything. 1 1

A-20 skill was set at "random" They were firing back. Main issue of interest was the way they line up in trail .No mutual support. Similar set up with skill set to "veteran" much more interesting. In SP I never set bombers to "ace" because accuracy is ridiculous.

I must give "veteran" a try. ================= So with the 30mm potato launcher that makes the armament pretty devastating, even for a short burst. Watching your video again I estimate an average 1.5 seconds per burst, but I'm going to go down to 1 second in an effort to account for potential rounds on target only. MK 108 cannon (30mm) 650 rounds/min @ 1 sec = (650 / 60) 10.83 so I'll say 10 rounds on target potentialy. MG 151 cannon (20mm) 600–750 rounds/min @ 1 sec = (650 / 60) 10 x 2 (2 cannons) = 20 rounds on target potentialy. MG 131 machine gun (13mm) 900 rounds/min @ 1 sec = (900 / 60) 15 x 2 (2 machine guns) = 30 rounds on target potentialy. According to the scource (links in the weapon names); Tests concluded that it took only 4 rounds of 30mm to knock down a B-17 or B-24 and just 1 round to down a single engined fighter. Whereas it required about 15-20 rounds of 20mm to knock down a B-17. (This apparently dropped to 4-5 rounds during a head on attack, but it's not important here). My conclusion is that with either the 30mm or the 20mm's you already have enough firepower to do the required damage and then some. With both the 30mm & the 20mm's together it could be described as overkill and then you have the 13mm's on top of all that. Plus I rounded down a fair way too, so you probably got even more on target. At any rate what you got is pretty much what should be expected, I think. Edited November 18, 2021 by Pict
