Assistance for head turning in VR

I hear Tobruks VR is going to have assistance for head turning in VR so you can do the owl head like track ir users and dont have to break your neck checking six with limited FOV. It would be great if this could be added to great battles. It would help with neck pain as well as compensating for the fact that most VR HMD's have limited FOV with very poor picture at the extremes so its hard to see what's behind you unless you turn all the way around since you cant really use you'r eyes like you can irl.

+1, when an external tool is that popular this is a strong indication that the base game is incomplete.

In addition, the Padlock view should also work in VR.

It might be nice to have a padlock marker available for the single players, like in the old Mig Alley sim, you had an icon appear over the plane you padlocked, but the view wouldn't actually follow.  I wouldn't want my view suddenly taken over while in VR, that would be quite disorientating and make many nauseous.  More options never hurt to sell the game, and nubes can learn quicker how to track getting up to speed to feed the onliners quicker.  More options always add to the games success in the long run.

Padlock is a game aid for people without head tracking or VR. Hence it’s unnecessary with those peripherals. Why do you need it when you can just follow the target with your view?
Besides, padlock is a “cheat” and turned off on most servers.

Maybe the game is fine and it’s the player’s abilities that are lacking ?

Yes, these devs really should work on new and better ways to induce vomiting.

I personally dont care for padlock, would just like the ability to add some extra twist at the extremes of head rotation. Yea the amount of really awesome independent/third party apps/tools for this game is both evidence of how much the community is behind the game and how poorly the devs manage their resources.

Well you want virtual reality right? That means you have to turn your real head ?

Yet in real reality I can turn my eyes as well AND benefit from peripheral vision ;)

However I use the center be button - when I check my 9 o‘clock I press it, can than turn all the way to the right to check my 6 then relax my neck and press it again to look forward once more.

Either you do not have the slighliest idea of how the current VR limits your peripheral vision (lack of real FOV and clarity) or you are just trolling.

Snap- and padlock views work with current headtracking solutions, like TrackIR.

VR is headtracking + 3D. There is no reason to disable these views because of 3D.

TrackIR uses 'movement' accelleration, it is relatively easy to look backwards. VR does not, you must literally turn around to look backwards. Therefore a snap view is very much necessary, otherwise neck injuries can occur (many WW1 pilots had these).

Forcing the player’s view around in VR would make them sick.

It would not be mandatory. And it works in Tobruks VR and VRNS.

But players would feel forced to use it in order to be competitive. And then forced into VR sickness. Not a great idea.

Your point might interest the many VRNS users (or not).
