Cpt_Siddy Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 He ammo has higher probability of making pilot go unconscious and damaging flight surfaces enough to render pane combat inefficient. AP ammo is useful only in very narrow of cases where you hit important part, were HE also preform good enough, but AP has the added drawback of being nearly useless on any other hits. The murrican .50 cals are good demonstration of that fact. When you swap murrican ammo for HE filled HMG, you feel like you are using cannons.
CountZero Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 if you need more AP just dont fly axis fighter, last time i check this is ratio betwen ap and he in game belts: german fighters 13mm, 15mm and 20mm have 33% AP italian fighter 12.7mm and 20mm 50% AP american and british fighters .50 100% AP, 20mm 50% AP soviet fighters 12.7mm, 20mm 66% AP 1

The P-38 avoids this trend, but only at the expense of being a heavy fighter with all the agility drawbacks that entails. The P-39 is a similarly imperfect compromise (chiefly due to engine limitations, at least). 24 minutes ago, CountZero said: if you need more AP just dont fly axis fighter, last time i check this is ratio betwen ap and he in game belts: german fighters 13mm, 15mm and 20mm have 33% AP italian fighter 12.7mm and 20mm 50% AP american and british fighters .50 100% AP, 20mm 50% AP soviet fighters 12.7mm, 20mm 66% AP Thanks for posting these. I love precision shooting, however, which precludes using wing guns. Consequently that cuts my options down to a handful of (broadly useful) fighters. The Yak is objectively superior to the 109 for my preferences, yet is limited by low ammo count and high rate of fire. I prefer lower fire rates for ammo conservation. The P-39 has adequate armament, but also suffers from low ammo count, and beyond that, I don't like the jittery overly-sensitive handling. Screws up my aim. The P-38 has good guns and is stable when firing, but I'm not fond of heavy planes when I have alternatives. The Macchi has great ammo capacity, but no cannon punch; more importantly, it's not very competitive in terms of top speeds. My Goldilocks tastes leave the 109, Yak, and La-5/7. The 109 is exceptional because it has a high ammo capacity for all its guns, a comfortable rate of fire, and is very stable when aiming; and it's usable throughout the war. Until the Yak-3 and La-7 show up, the 109 is the better choice. Once late-war Russian fighters are in the sim, their superior performance will largely negate the minor quibbles I have with their guns. I'll still have the misfortune of being able to fly them only for the last ~6 months of the war, sadly. Whereas the 109 holds an advantage over most of the competition from '41 to '43, and a rough parity until war's end. That's ultimately why I get stuck playing the 109. It's not that I love it so much as it does what I want to do better than everything else. When I get my hands on a Yak-3, maybe I can finally stop saying that.
dawud Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 I am womdering why the old Damage-Model still is in Plus the new one. To me it just seems weird that i one or two fragments hit, all of a sudden the whole plane gets a new texture. Allways seemed odd to me. Will this old "slap on"-map persist, or will the new bullet-whole/Fragment-decals be on their own?
