catchthefoxes Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 I'm thinking of upgrading my CPU. I currently have an i5 6600K paired with a gtx 1060 6gb, i get an average of about 50 fps on the ground and around 55 fps in air while looking at the cockpit; all settings are maxed except for the antialiasing which is at MSAA x4, I have a 1080p monitor. Will upgrading my CPU to an i9 9900K be enough to get my fps to stay above 60? (i obviously cannot afford to get a new GPU with the current state of things.)
No_85_Gramps Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 If you cut back on the maxed out settings in IL2 you can probably reach 60. I ran a 1070ti with ultra settings, and dialed back some of the other settings and could push around 90 fps. Not sure a CPU upgrade would do anything for you, your 1060 is probably at it's limit with settings maxed out. 1

If you play at 1080p in 60Hz you current i5-6600K would be probably enough for it. Try to run IL-2 with your current settings but just you MSAA to zero and Clouds to Low. Then run IL-2 and see what fps do have and what is the %load of your GPU. You can also run the CPU_test of the SYN_vander benchmark to compare your actual performance and compare with others.

But I’ll see if the MsAA to zero doesn’t bother me so much. I really don’t like jagged edges.
