Slo-Mo Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) Hi guys, I did some testing with both OSes using their respecitve latest builds and all drivers updated to their latest versions (as of 13 Nov -21) for the specific OS, Graphics, Chipset etc. What I found is that Windows 11 performs roughly 9% worse that with Windows 10 on my AMD system. In game it's mostly noticable in VR where I see a constant 2-3 FPS lower result with Windows 11 than with Windows 10. AMD ppl, do you experience the same results? Intel ppl, what performance diff do you guys see (if any) ? simfan2015 Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 It is hard to believe Microsoft didn't know about their w11 scheduler not being ready for amd cpus!!!? It might simply be a matter of scale... Intel and nvidia still own the pc market and little has changed in that regard no matter how technicallly innovative amd has been.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) Have you installed the latest BIOS too? Edited November 13, 2021 by SCG_Fenris_Wolf

firdimigdi Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Has the "amd performance fix" been released yet for W11? Last I heard they acknowledged the issue and were going to release some sort of fix. I think the main culprit was said to be L3 cache performance.

Did do some good, but not that much (+1% in performance vs before). Still a long way behind Windows 10 for me. Cheers
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 I don't have that issue. Why do you use resizeable bar on ? It takes roughly away the percentage of performance you are missing. I suggest to turn that off and run the benchmark again.

And as far as I remember it did give an overall performance boost in different tests on different games (not much though)? Had it on since it became available. But will turn off and try again, tnx for tip Fenris ? Cheers Edited November 14, 2021 by Slo-Mo
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Turning it on lowered my performance in VR Windows 10 in autumn. It might have been that they have released updates to fix that issue for Windows 10, but not for 11 yet. Under no circumstances in VR has the resizable bar ever given me any performance advantage. Quite to the contrary, as bewitnessed by many people complaining about the same on the Internet. That said, I hope turning it off solves the issue for you. You're not getting any gain with it anyway in VR applications. P.S. To test performance between Win10 and 11 for IL-2, you should test in IL-2 VR. 3DMark or any other 2D benchmarks are not representative for VR performance, which includes their deltas between the systems. 1
