Hi guys,

I did some testing with both OSes using their respecitve latest builds and all drivers updated to their latest versions (as of 13 Nov -21) for the specific OS, Graphics, Chipset etc. What I found is that Windows 11 performs roughly 9% worse that with Windows 10 on my AMD system. In game it's mostly noticable in VR where I see a constant 2-3 FPS lower result with Windows 11 than with Windows 10.

AMD ppl, do you experience the same results? Intel ppl, what performance diff do you guys see (if any) ?

System

Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB Chassi (6 x 140mm fans, HW controlled via BIOS and linked to CPU temp)

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi MB (7C37v1G3 bios)

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (Noctua NH-D15 chromax air cooled +PBO enabled)

EVGA RTX 3090 FTW Ultra (GPU 1800MHz, Mem 9752 MHz, 100% Power profile)

64 GB 3600 Corsair Vengence RGB Pro

Samsung 860 QVO 1TB as OS drive

Samsung 980 PRO 1TB as Game drive

TrackIR 5 and HP Reverb G2 (with new cable)

Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog

Thrustmaster TPR T Pendular Rudder pedals

The results from 3DMark test for DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 are as follows;

  • Windows 10 Time Spy Dx12: 18462
  • Windows 11 Time Spy Dx12: 14944
  • Windows 10 Fire Strike Dx11: 38570
  • Windows 11 Fire Strike Dx11: 30897

Cheers

It is hard to believe Microsoft didn't know about their w11 scheduler not being ready for amd cpus!!!?

It might simply be a matter of scale... Intel and nvidia still own the pc market and little has changed in that regard no matter how technicallly innovative amd has been.

Yeah, 7C37v1G3. Resizable Bar on. Tried with Windows 11 Game Mode on/off and Accelerated GPU Scheduling on/off. Same result sorry to say.

Has the "amd performance fix" been released yet for W11? Last I heard they acknowledged the issue and were going to release some sort of fix. I think the main culprit was said to be L3 cache performance.

I don't have that issue.

Why do you use resizeable bar on ? It takes roughly away the percentage of performance you are missing.

I suggest to turn that off and run the benchmark again. :good:

Had it on for both Win 10 and Win 11 when I did the test runs. And as far as I remember it did give an overall performance boost in different tests on different games (not much though)? Had it on since it became available.

But will turn off and try again, tnx for tip Fenris ?

Turning it on lowered my performance in VR Windows 10 in autumn. It might have been that they have released updates to fix that issue for Windows 10, but not for 11 yet.

Under no circumstances in VR has the resizable bar ever given me any performance advantage. Quite to the contrary, as bewitnessed by many people complaining about the same on the Internet.

That said, I hope turning it off solves the issue for you. You're not getting any gain with it anyway in VR applications.

P.S. To test performance between Win10 and 11 for IL-2, you should test in IL-2 VR. 3DMark or any other 2D benchmarks are not representative for VR performance, which includes their deltas between the systems.

Hello friends I have

ASSUS ROG Z550-f Gamin MB with intel I9 11900K

Geforce FTX 4090

PiMax Crystal VR

Il 2 was running to max graphics to 72 fps - great until I upgraded my win 10 to win 11.

Now when I play the CPU load gets from 8-9 ms to 13 -18 ms, ALL SETTINGS ARE SAME TO TIL AND OPENXR, but the frame rate drops to 54 fps in some battles

I did everything what I find in the net

Upgraded to latest bios version

Turning on/off Game mode and Graphics hardware acc

holographic monitor disabled

updated all my drivers

in 3d mark I have 8780pts

please give me some advice?

If you have a question about your PC's performance, please start a new topic instead of digging up one this old, thanks. 🙂
