Tripe engine - dev question

Is there any news on the engine for the Tripe when it releases next month? It will 100% need the pre-nerf engine, particularly now we have the pre-nerf Camel.

I’m pretty much peeing myself at the thought of the Tripe with the decent HP. The nerfed RoF version struggled even vs early Albi DIIs in turns and climb.

I totally agree. The tripe pre-nerf was one of THE BEST in game. The Albs and it were matched well. Afterwards it became fodder.

I concur. She's a fast, slippery broad with a touch of grace. Overall, a nice piece of skirt.

At least a speed increase. Didn’t someone already log the speed data in the bug section?

RPMs are limited (were cut down in ROF december 14 patch)

It's anyone's guess what it will do in FC. I've seen enough to know that some planes just don't transfer over well. The SE5a and Spad VII 180 are examples of planes that went downhill. Our guys are flying a fair amount of time back in ROF, so we do back-to-back ROF and FC nights sometimes and you can really feel the difference in those planes.

Here's hoping the Tripe is a good kite.  It was my favorite ride in FC.

From what people say, the Sopwith Triplane wasn't supposed to be part of the 2014 nerfing in ROF. She was only dragged down with the others because she shared the same engine with the Sopwith Camel. If we follow the same line of reasoning, she's coming to Flying Circus with the pre-nerfing flight model. But I might be wrong.

One thing I can say, I would love to fly the original Sopwith Triplane again. She was one of the best flight models overall. Not that easy to master, but a pleasure once you understood how she went. Although the D.Va in FC is also pre-nerfing, which won't match really well with a pre-nerfing Tripe. I would love to see the original Tripe against the current ROF D.Va.

They’ll put in enough effort to make sure it ports and doesn’t crash the game. Doubt any effort will be give towards accuracy. That’s just reality based on actual evidence.

She should be fast and slippery. However, it seems to me the devs are more intent on rolling out shiny new kites quickly without due diligence on FM/DM. It's a bit pointless, dare I say, tiresome, having the same old same old on new deliveries.

That what they promised,  I'm glad that they choose pre nerfed FMs as second though, unfortunately after releasing DR.1 and spad 13 , fortunately to spad it was not changed in December 14 patch.

Great Expectations indeed.

Can the FC2 planes released so far act as a guide?

N28. Lol.  You could say exactly as expected, but totally unsatisfactory.

Fokker D8. As expected. Ok

D12. Worse than expected with its crippling new DM wing weakness.

SPAD 7s. Worse than expected. A comically demented shaking about the roll axis when pulling out of dives. Horrible energy retention. Weak DM wings. Aldis sight bug (gun obscures view!) and its now a shaky gun platform.

DH4. Seems Ok. Perhaps others who fly it more can comment

Breguet. As expected, maybe slightly better with trim control added.

So the Sopwith Triplane will probably get the pre-nerf engine. But I wouldn't be surprised if its energy retention is bad and the wings super weak after damage.

Would love to be wrong.

Could almost guarantee the tripe will be the weakest of the bunch with the extra wings and all those wires.
