Sheriff88 Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 (edited) Has anyone encountered problems with Windows 11 installation disrupting game files? I know it may enhance graphics but I don't want to start reinstalling game. Thanks in advance. Edited November 12, 2021 by Sheriff88
Hoss Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 If you are running Ryzen, I'd say no........................ Start at minute 3:00 Good rule of thumb..................... if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This is another one of those things people rush to implement to make the game better (turn off clouds, no grass, everything off so you can see that plane easier) which you probably will never see the difference anyway. I'm not turning on TPM on my Mobo until I know it works as advertised.
Zippy-do-dar Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I like to give any new windows a few years to sort there problems out. 3
MajorMagee Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) Not with running il2, but it did neuter my sound chip. Everything now sounded weak and muted, without Win 11 providing the same Realtek HD equalizer app we had in Win 10 to fix it. I ended up having to buy a copy of Boom3D to get the fidelity back in my soundscape. Then there's the AMD chip management and L3 cache issues that slowed performance significantly (up to 20%), but hopefully those have now been resolved with Win 11 updates, and new AMD chipset drivers. Sheriff88 Posted November 13, 2021 Author Posted November 13, 2021 Thanks all for your quick feedback.
Eisenfaustus Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 I had no problems with my intel gaming notebook. With any game.
IckyATLAS Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 In any case I have never upgraded WinXX before say at least about six months after the release, or when building a new rig if the timing matches. Always full pro versions. And if I switch, I will not upgrade. It is a completely new scratch install. System disk is wiped and repartitioned, formatted and then a fresh install. This has saved me of many many problems that may appear with upgrades. But yes it takes me a whole week-end to do it, as I have an awful lot of stuff to reinstall, drivers to update etc. etc. But this reinstallation often clears up issues that appeared over time. With IL2 it's the same. Major updates that need resaving missions, better to do a fresh clean scratch re-install downloading from IL2 store. Same after a certain number of updates, it is better to reload the latest version and install it clean.
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 S! Using Windows 11 and have not noticed anything negative. I like the layout and menus, easy to use after a short time. Loss of performance? Hard to say. Cliffs of Dover runs at about 130fps average and same for BoX at 2560x1440 144Hz. 1
jollyjack Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 I am still waiting for more info on the TPM 2.0 hardware configuration. I have a laptop and an older PC not having that chip. Windows 11 seems to be faster than 10, but probably not much if you use 10 Enterprise.
