Tank Camoflauge

So basically anyone that has played TC for any amount of time and compared axis to allied tanks   can clearly see the  advantage the allied tanks have in the camo dept.  As in,  the german tanks basically have no camo paint  in  anything but  winter maps.   Now befor any of the fanboy crew come in here slobbering all over themselves about   the   tan paint you have  is historical and factory,  do us all a favor and save it.  That is like saying  since camo netting wasn't applied at the factory so  no1 used it.   the developers came out and asked for skins from the community and  a whole bunch  were made,  and yet, we are still stuck  using a base coat paint job,  instead of anything   green, that works like the allies.

Why is that ?    all can see it is easier to pick up a tan tank in trees  than a dark green one.  WHy no new skins to choose from ?  We have  the correct holster, buttons and shirts, but lack this visual that would actually add something  functional to the game.   Plz don't suggest  anyone use a custom skin,    everyone here knows that the exploiters  currently playing mp,  in whatever way they can,  will never download  good camo skins for german tanks,  why would they  when the default works so well

thats why i make so many myself, also the RAL numbers in game arent quite right, hence i change them, but yep i do agree on that

The same holds true on the airplane side.  More default skins are needed across the board.

Honest, no troll question.  Did the Germans ever use green overall on their armor?  All I have ever seen are the early gray, and the sand, sometimes with green or primer dark red as secondary colors.

Jason has said that he wants to improve the skin situation for aircraft.  They obviously have to do the same thing for tanks.

S! Pig,

I haven't finished this page on our website, but most German tanks had some sort of camouflage when it entered field service. Each factory had a different camo scheme in addition to the paint seen in TC. You can see some of the camo used on the tanks at our website: https://jagdverband44.com/panzer-camouflage

Can I just say your website is amazing! I am looking at getting the book you recommend now as well. Panzer Tactics: German Small-Unit Armor Tactics in World War II, 2020 Edition. For a flying focussed outfit you sure have a lot on tanks :)

For what it's worth, all the photos I've found of II SS Panzer Corps (the only German ground unit that fought at Prokhorovka) tanks at Kursk seem to show their tanks as basically having what's in the game - the base tan paint with some camo airbrushed on top of it. So what we have now seems to be accurate to what the tanks looked like in the field after being painted by their crews. I've personally found that camo to be more effective in wheatfields, too.

This might help a little bit, it's a mod that gives the Tiger and Panther greener camo, as used by the 2nd SS during the Red Army's Operation Polkovodets Rumyantsev.

Thanks for the kind words.

I created a lot of content on tanks because more than a few JV44 members didn't have a whole lot of experience with tanks. As you said, we're a flight squadron :) , but I wanted to give those who wanted to learn more a place to go and get the basics armored fighting vehicles (AFV).

imagine all the aircraft inside the sim comes with winter camo and one standard camo so basically two camo for each

that's what tank crew is at now....

even if it was not part of the great battle series

and developed and released by other game company

it's just ....... c'mon...

I think the tank paint schemes are pretty good for the Battle they portray.

But I can see why in this game where tanks get bombed below 50m with perfect accuracy that you would want an extra edge camouflaging the tanks to make them safe against what is a sure way to kill them in this game.

The problem with custom skins is that only the client side sees them right? So everybody has to download them?

Yes, or that all other people download the skinn.

On the subject: the tank camos we have is the standard colors the german tanks used at kursk in that time frame, only difference was the direction of the lines went and how much color of each but it was: sand yellow, green and red-brown that they used. There were a few other types that minimised the sand yellow, can find examples and post here if people want? But to the wars end it was these 3 colors they mainly used, ambush camo being popular in mid 1944 to wars end. Those who here tank models will know these camos well too. From my knowledge there were never a german tank painted in only dark green as the soviet tanks did but a mix of colors.

But adding netting and bushes etc to the tank would be nice.

Here is a good site to see info on each tank and how it developed theough the war and examples of camo it had year to year:

https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/germany/panzer-v_panther.php

Like an example in late 1945 due to lack of paint they kept on the red primer and only added stripes of sand yellow as a camo.
