Aquaplaning

How about a little aquaplaning of the tires on relatively smooth rivers and lakes before the plane goes kerplunk?  That might be more realistic and a whole lot more fun.

You can currently do this, I've not tried it in the WWI aircraft, they seem likely a bit twitchy for it, but I've done it successfully with the U2
