Is there a way to move yourself forward inside cockpit? It seems like especially in the Mustang, but other planes also I'm sitting way to far back from the gauges and flight controls and should be at least another 12" inches forward in the cockpit. Thx

@MStewart40 Use the Insert, Home, Page up, Page down, End and Delete keys to reach the desired position and then press F10 to save. When you press number pad 5 your position will snap to this place.

Or, in VR simply position your head in the desired position and press F10 to save.

You will need to make this adjustment for each aircraft.

That's the one I needed, for VR thanks QB.Gordon200!

Wish I knew what I was doing wrong.. Q2 arrived yesterday, connected through link cable fine, watched a bunch of videos, read, asked on Discord, but in IL2 (VR only, in flatscreen they function normally) the Pilot head movement keys do nothing. I pop in (WWI Ins. Action) and i'm behind the pilots head. I can move forward "into" his head but F10 does not save the VR position. Also, since i'm old and not from the excorcist movie, I can only see from 270-90 without spinning around in my seat, so I guess I will need to look into installing Necksafer or enabling Snap views (will they work in VR?).. Other than that I have it set at 80hz, 1.4x (5408x2736) to try and get clarity remotely similar to my flatscreens (7560 x1440), but it's not even close at this point. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I really want to like this, will move on to a high end unit next year if it works for me..

No snap view will not work in VR.

For me I prefer to save my pilot head position per plane based on this info from the IL-2 Manual. Note I do it on the 2d monitor, might take a couple of times to get it right for VR but works well for me.

 Adjusting the default head position:
1. Ensure any head tracking software (such as TrackIR) is disabled.
2. Make sure you cockpit view is centered by pressing the numpad 5 key (Pilot head: snap position center).
3. Adjust your camera view to the left and to the right with the Delete (Move pilot head left) and the End keys (Move pilot head right), respectively.
4. Adjust your camera view forward and backward with the Insert (Move pilot head forward) and the Home keys (Move pilot head backward), respectively.
5. Adjust your camera view up and down with the Page Up (Move pilot head up) and the Page Down keys (Move pilot head down), respectively.
6. Once you are satisfied with your changes, press the F10 key (Save current corrections in head snap position). If at any time before this step you want to revert to the default head position, press the numpad 5 key.

Thx dburne, got the view to where I want now and hitting Default VR view (or similar, forget) works in VR.. Still, at max settings it doesn't come close to my flatscreens and if that's the best I can get the Q2 will be a no-go for me.. I'll try it again wearing my 1.75x readers but when I first started out it seemed to make no difference either way..

you cam move you head in VR to best position that suit you and press F10 to save default view,  you need to be  careful to not move while hitting the key

After F10 you can sit properly and recenter.

With your specs, IMO you should have gone with the G2. Regardless of what some people like to say, the Q2 is not on the same planet as the G2, in terms of resolution. I currently have both and it is a VERY noticeable difference in quality. High + settings in IL2 with the G2 is beautiful and also lets you remain competitive.

Thanks, funny thing is I sent the Q2 back and grabbed a G2 for €399 on sale. While it is substantially better than the Quest 2 it still does not approach the flatscreens in clarity for ID'ng planes at distance. For me, it's useable in slower closure Flying Circus planes but not for anything faster moving as by the time I can ID them if it's enemy i'm already in trouble. Up close in a dogfight it's fine, but checking 6 (without mods) is impossible for me also so while I do like it i'ts back to flatscreens for this guy...

Just in the last week I've lost 6dof .My pilot's head seems locked in one place inside the cockpit very close to instrument panel. There is no lean foreword or back .I can turn side to side but cannot lean either way .This happened all by itself with Mods on or off .I suppose I could have hit the wrong key on keyboard but can't remember doing so. I might add I am a happy iser of the neck saver mod ,but have been using it long before this glitch .Not a big problem-merely irritating .Will any of the above advice help or this this a problem with Steam VR settings?

Dump your environment data in your WMR and redo your seating position.  Than make sure your aligned with the arrow in the steam grid waiting room and about the right height with the floor.  Once you launch necksafer make sure you do as the app says and bind the VR default view on the same key as the recenter for NS.  Asking for trouble if you don't.  You'll have to periodically redo this, my data regularly gets confused, think some of it is due to jumping between different games.

This worked like a charm. Many thanks I was really worried it was more serious. This was an easy fix!
