Barry aka Bearcat has passed away...

Bearcat was an honorable man and will be missed by our community.  I joined the old IL-2 forums way back around 2003 and remember he was always around back then... and since then, and now, he's with his Tuskegee heroes.

I remember BC from the old UBI forums ?

We were Mod's at the UBI forums with a cast of other characters with cartrix the UBI community manager!

Rest in Peace Barry and Godspeed.

He was one of the best guys in the community. Enjoyed his forum discussions and I had the chance to talk with him when IL2 BOS was first coming out.

That is really sad news, he always came across as a truly decent man. I remember him from the zoo days as well. RIP Barry.

RIP Bearcat, a name that was familiar to any long time Il-2 forums users.

I didn't know him, but the passion for flying unites us. I feel like I've lost a friend I know well.
Blue skies, Barry...

Bummer! Just read that.. Known him since the good ole Ubi days. Great guy with a passion for history and virtual flying.

Bummer - just popped in after a pretty long absence (things have been a little crazy IRL lately) and this was about the first thing I noticed.  Didn't know Bearcat well but certainly remember and appreciated his steadying presence on these IL-2GB forums during the some of those rough early days.  Always sad to lose one of our community, which is already too small in any event.  RIP Bearcat...

Haven't seen your name tag for a long time. Greets to a fellow oldtimer!

My condolences to his family.

He did moderate me, rightfully. Fair and decant. Only 10 years older than me.

It is very sad indeed

Just saw this. I'd been wondering about Bearcat, once so active in our community but not seen in a while. I never met him but he was a mentor of sorts back in my early IL2 days, freely offering good advice on the forums. His personality really shined through as a generous and good-hearted person. The world could sure use more people like him!

Barry also known as Bearcat in the flight simming community, was a great guy to have discussions about history, aviation, and flight simming. The community misses him,
everywhere even here in Australia.
and even though I am on the other side of our planet I’ve felt a brotherly bond with similar people with a liked passion that
many of our same age grouping has too.I knew when
he posted it would be an informative and interesting read.
So Fly In the skies of Heaven Barry. I feel that I will see you soon an my health deteriorates and Ive wondered if our passing is noticed in the virtual world be all seem to be living in now

Oh... So sad to hear, he was a Il2 legend... RIP ?

May your soul rest in peace, mate ?

So sorry to hear that :(

I joined the Ubi community back in the very early 2000’s, and I remember Bearcat from before he became a moderator. I remember many of his posts and the discussions he took part in. It doesn't feel long ago at all, and still it is 20 years ago. He was a good man online, and from the sound of it an even better person in real life. I did not know the man, but IL2 was an important part of my life at the time I started my journey into adulthood. And Bearcat was a big part of the forum and the community. He will be missed.

Wow! I am shocked! I have read his posts on a number of sim forums for years. Seemed like an standup guy. We never know when we will go. Make sure you are right with God my friends. My sincerest condolences to his family.

So sad. RIP sir. He looked really good for his age.

RIP Bearcat.

An honorable man whom I had the pleasure to fly online with, and against, and enjoyed lots of comms many years ago. So many names have faded from that time but not Bearcat. Salute <S>

I met Barry, many years ago.i don't remember talking on "comms" in server, but through original Il-2 forums, and private messages. He sent me a lot of his music files/conversation and my girlfriend/wife, at the time, got really sultry into it. ( Long since gone) but not only a musician, he helped me a ton in IL-2  control/input. ( I came from EAW, at the time)  Bearcat/Barry, was a good man. I recently thought about him this week, and found of his passing...

This man...virtual or not, was a Tuskegee Airman.Highest of regards, and a "S~" to you, good sir!

Your memories live on.

Missed seeing this, don't browse here often.  Traded a few PM with Bearcat way back when at the IL2 ubi forums; was so happy to see him here too after so many years.

It's always sad when someone's time ends too soon.  RIP Bearcat, and my condolences to his loved ones and friends.
