Hello folks, I am getting back into the flight world after many years away and am wondering about the sites where you link up with other pilots for joint missions. what are they and are they still active. I havent loaded up all my gear yet but am in the process and have a few new pilots that want to start learning and joining in the great world of combat flight sims. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I remember a tool called Hyperlobby in the old il2 days, was a great Tool even for Events, loved to use it. But it was abondend many years ago.
So far no support for the GB series.

If anyone knows a similar briefing room, im in

Hyperlobby was the go in the original IL-2 series and even Oleg Maddox used to make a regular appearance.
It was not unusual to see 1000 people in play through the various rooms. That was amazing for early 2000's. And you could even track down your mates in game from memory.
I logged back into Hyperlobby https://hyperfighter.sk about a year ago, but it was pretty quiet. Well VERY quiet.

I think something like Hyperlobby again would assist greatly in online gaming, but the system works the way it does now, for whatever reason.

Cheers

Well...................................
With a complicated life and the desire to just jump on for a bit of fun, without having to sign up to regular gatherings, as well as the fact that some of us do not want to commit to one squad / country / aircraft type, things like HL was just a nice way to drop in with friends.

I have done the squad thing. And to a large degree they are great. But sometimes just dropping in, having a blast and returning to (a somewhat) normal life is what some of us enjoy.

Cheers.

This

You might not "join" any, just be aquainted with some, and tag along...

Discord is the go to voice comm app, and you can post there to ask when/if any flying is being organized....

Im not flying lately, but our squad uses (almost) all planes, from all sides, and many players fly with us regularly that have never joined "oficialy", plus people that have flew with us only a few times.

Also we dont dictate what to fly, and usualy choose what to do on the go (unless we are atending a very specific event)

Good to know. Especially regarding Discord, as I cannot find much on SRS. This is the info some of us need to know.

Cheers

The best thing about Hyperlobby for me was how it ran as a widget on my Desktop.  At a glance it showed me what servers were active and constantly tempted me to take part.

These days I have to get my equipment ready, load up the game and check the Multiplayer tab.  Or go visit the homepages of whatever servers I know to see if anything is happening.  The spontaneity of stopping what you are doing to jump into a quick DF, or add yourself to the list of players in a Co-Op that is just about to start is greatly diminished these days.

Yep.
Pretty much my take on it too mate. It was just - - "there", so as to speak. And so - - "usable".

I also find going in-game and constantly checking MP (especially from Australia), with no idea if anyone you know is flying, a tad laborious. That's my big word for the day: "LABORIOUS". With HL, it was just there updating and showing so much info at a glance.

Something like HL would be good for MP but i doubt we will see anything like it here. Just adding chat function or waiting room to coop and df MP lobbys would be plus.

There is this thing atleast, you could easy check whos where, it was popular at start https://il2.flying-barans.ru/  but servers seam to not like it or bather with it, i think after every game update they have to sign in to be shown. I liked it because i could check my in game ping this way, or see hows online without starting game.
