Head stays cenetered in cockpit when looking around

Hope that title makes sense.  When I look aft, To look around my seat, my head in game moves towards the canopy for a second and then comes back to centerline in the cockpit making it impossible to see around the seat.

Am I missing a switch or setting that allows freedom of movement within the confines of the cockpit while wearing VR?

Thanks for the help  (I also downloaded necksaver and it has the same result, the look back doesnt see around the seat.

It sounds as if your headset is not being fully recognized before you start the game. Once SteamVR is launched, move the headset a little to see if is accepting the 6dof of motion, and be sure the room is lit well enough for the inside-out cameras to track motion. Then launch IL-2.

Oh - and before launching IL-2, in the IL-2 launcher be sure the "Enable VR" setting option is checked.

The above is part of my start-up procedure for playing in VR

I had this too, what worked for me was going into the VR settings and clearing the old room perimeter boundaries and setting up new ones.

On the ground with the canopy open I can stick my head freely over the side of the cockpit and look around

inside its like I have a jack in the box head that wont let me get close to the edge.  It moves in that direction as I do, but then pulls back to the center line of the cockpit.

You have the head limiter (boundaries) on.

If you have expert settings it is on by default, change to custom and you can turn it off.

I changed to custom, is this the box that needs to be unchecked? Checked or unchecked it doesnt seem to have much of an impact on the head movement limitations inside the closed cockpit.

Yes having that box unchecked should take care of that for you. If not then you likely have something else going on.

What headset are you using? Does it use beacons or does it use inside out tracking?

If it is using inside out tracking, it may not have figured out the room, or have enough ambient light to work, and is defaulting to just the orientation.
