Just got here, haven't driven tanks before, howdy..........

Have been doing the key selection binding and was wondering what one has to do to switch positions to like run the machine guns. Tried what the keys that are called out, but don't do anything. What am I doing/not doing to cause that? I hope this is the place to ask.......

Welcome to the Tank fun. 

I did a video a few months ago for Tanks set up if you have a flight sim set up. If you don't it might be still helpful to give you an idea of what you need. Good luck and see you around.

The easiest way is to press "Esc" then go to "Station note", you will have 3 tabs. They will describe the function of your station, tell you what actions are possible and what keys are assigned to it and finally some help.

I thought I should mention that The tanks I have, 2, came with one of the flight sims. I have not purchased 'Tank Crew'. Perhaps this is why some of the stuff doesn't work? The driver's position and main gun are all that seem to work as far as positions. Some of the other keys don't either.

Thanks guys, I'll keep plugging away? It is kinda neat tho,,,,,,,I did figure out how to set the range, better than the 'Kentucky'  windage I was using

Yes, the 2 free tanks are not as detailed as the other tanks and they have only 2 positions, the driver and the shooter.

When in gunner's position, you can open the hatch, which gives you the tank commander's position

I only play the TC tanks, so I'm not sure about the freebies.

I think it was either with FC or BOBP, they tossed in a couple tanks. More or less 'bait'. Just enough to get one appetite wet for playing with tanks. I'm getting weaker by the moment......

I am a newbie too.  I see a FVP discord server for aircraft to talk in multiplayer.  Is there a discord server for tank multiplayer?  If not, how do u all communicate with and find team mates?

Knarley TC available tanks on the Finnish Virtual Pilot Server is the best tank sim in the world at the moment.  Get TC and join in on the fun before it gets too popular.  It's the best kept secret in gaming right now

I actually think it is not the best policy to provide substandard freebies to folks that might think that these tanks are the pinnacle of what they would get with the full package. DCS do the same with the free base game su-25 which has no clickable cockpit etc. I guess they consider simmers to be more intelligent than most and that we will realise this without just coming to the conclusion that "if this is what tanks are like I don't want them" when we use the free ones.

The free tanks were to see if it would be worth going that way in the GB series. Obviously those two tanks were successful enough to develope TC.

I get that. But the demo tanks should be tank crew quality assets that act as a showcase for the other tanks, lest people think they are an indication of what they will get.

I couldn't answer that. The internet service that I have isn't fast enough for me to play 'on line'. Something called 'ping', I guess mine is humongus. It's more like PING....

There are people here that I'm sure would be happy to show you the way.........
