JG27_Chivas Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1372782855 I don't think enough people understand what a game changer Oculus Rift/VR will be for the combat flight sim market. Warthunder is apparently currently working on OR support. An influx of gamers to WT because of this feature, could influence the developer to create features/options that more serious combat flight sim fans enjoy. This could effect BOS's bottom line and future theaters. I understand 777 Studios have talked about, or have ordered the OC developers kit. Hopefully they will see enough to potential to seriously look into developing support.
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 S! I would not buy OR for WarThunder. After they released their charts I dumped the game for obvious reasons. OR would be feasible in BoS as it seems to be shaping up to be well made.
AbortedMan Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 War Thunder is a huge disappointment. Been playing it for over a year now, and the flight models are just pitifully mish-mashed together with no semblance of anything you'd expect a WW2 military aircraft to perform. All that is forgivable due to its beta status, but the control disparity between joystick users and "mouse-aim" users that are heavily reliant on an in-game cpu assistance called "instructor" is absolutely gameplay destroying by means of mouse-aimers having the upper hand in almost all aspects...they can't even stall, for God's sake (while joystick users can). I don't think any OR holding simmers will be satisfied with that game, no matter how many awesome features they implement for the Rift...it's simply a different (read: garbage) kind of game.
ACG_Kraut Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Oh hey there Abortedman. I think BoS and WT will look fantastic on the Rift, though, like you said it won't make WT into the game it should be. I have high hopes for BoS and it's features, including rift support. I'm only rolling with War Thunder until I can ditch it for the BoS beta and release!

6./ZG26_Emil Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 How will you be able to see your keyboard etc if you are wearing the OR?
vyyye Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 How will you be able to see your keyboard etc if you are wearing the OR? You won't be able to see your keyboard. Shouldn't take long to learn to use it without looking if you can't do so yet though.
kestrel79 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Warthunder isn't that bad Aborted IF you only fly in FRB (Full Real Battles) mode. The "instructor" is disabled so the mouse aimers steer clear. Almost everyone has a joystick in this mode, you need one to be good. I can't stand Arcade mode, even Historic Battles is pretty awful because of the icons and mouse aiming. Stick with FRB and it feels pretty might like IL2 lite. 1

I'm agree with, it was a so extensive and hot discus about the M-A users, imho its was never been resolved, in the practice it was a real big and huge mistake to mix M-A and JS users same sessions at a time and with the wobble's disadvantage suffered by JS users, after an inspected update it brings the undesirable YoYo effect, same time I was one of the ones did stop to play in AB. hearing about this game I came here to get more info, and also hearing about this Hard Simulator from Cliff of Dover IL-2 devs. I do really hope it is going to be as good as I heard about it, WarThunder is a really nice and beautiful game, I enjoy it a lot but mainly in FRB, with all my friends The Rogues and friends of...I do respect a lot the big effort in WT development, and I think every one is going to be an excellent game in their own style, one is going to be Favorite? we don't know yet, but both are going to be a success...Saludos
Uufflakke Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Have some patience and the OR will become cheaper and cheaper and... for free!?! http://www.edge-online.com/features/oculus-vr-wants-to-release-its-headset-for-free/

I imagine when World War Mode is released, which will be the main guts of WT in terms of their efforts to be "groundbreaking", I'm sure it will be in the same difficulty as the historic battles mode...which is absolutely unacceptable to me and 47% of the forum-vocal HB playing playerbase...and anyone else looking for a WW2 aerial combat experience. The equality of control methods just isn't there. I think Gaijin is capable of making good games, (though, I haven't seen one yet...their go at IL2 was awful) but it seems they are completely in the dark when it comes to making multiplayer games, there's just a ton of things that they don't think of or break that should have never made it past the drawing board in a multiplayer gaming environment. But I digress...got a call from a friend this morning on the brink of barfing from his first try on the Rift...he loved it! Can't wait to try mine when it comes! Imagine a video game experience so immersive you want to puke your guts out? I'm in!!

I bet his neck hurt the next day from all that frantc lloking around for enemies on his six. I mean that would be the ultimate fricken immersion. I bet with that 3d he feels like he is really there. Just like the other reviews have posted. I'm waiting to buy one of the hd ones. I can only imagine how cool it will be to have native positional tracking and no screen door effect like so many of those owners talk about. Thanks for the share though! I'm glad to hear that flight sims are a legit experience in the OR. I hope we can hear more about it soon!
Mirvr Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) So Oculus Rift just demoed their HD proto on a past E3, and from the looks of it it made the immersion factor so much better. No screendoor effect, at least not as much as a devkit does. I am really excited for WT looking into supporting it, since gaming would be changed next year . Forever! Edited July 28, 2013 by Mirvr
yaky109 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 100% getting rifts for me and my son and we cant wait to fly this! Is Oculus Rift support confirmed?
Venom Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Is Oculus Rift support confirmed? Mmhh, August first, and that question is still not answered? Anyway, I'm not afraid, with the arrival of the fullHD OR (maybe after-next version with something like 4K is necessary to read the instruments) there will literarily be NO game or sim that won't support OR. Oculus rift IS the next game revolution. But stay away from the current dev version: it's just a teaser, but what a teaser!

Oculus rift IS the next game revolution. Can we zoom in for a better look in the Rift or is it fixed zoom for whatever unfortunate reason? Agreed the Rift or similar head mounted display is the future. I mean, its worth the price just to strap your girlfriend/mother into one of the horror demos. :] Edited November 28, 2013 by Mayfields
